:uni: Propose unicycling photos (and text) to be displayed on the homepage for visitors

I intend to put a nice banner on the homepage that will be displayed to visitors so the homepage is more appealing.

A good start would be to show off 3 disciplines:

  • Muni

  • Freestyle

  • Road/Distance

Bonus: propose a welcome text. No more than 2 quick paragraphs.

Please only propose pictures that the author agrees to be used for this intent
There are no specific requirements for the photos. There won’t be much space in the banner, and they will be cropped, but we’ll see that later. They just need to be of fair quality.

if i promise to give you a photo will you save a spot for free style

For the moment let’s see what users propose, and maybe we’ll do a poll for each discipline’s picture

@IvenBach Can we use this?

I have in mind that we want to attract beginners and experienced users. It can be a picture like @ManiusTerentiusPullus suggests independent of the rider (good idea, as a beginner there are lamp posts missing) or i.e. with 3 riders:

  1. with a very young 4-6years old rider to show how easy it is
  2. the grandma/grandpa riding to show that it’s never too late
  3. someone in between performing a cool trick to show the fun of the highest skills.

Or a hole city rides unicycle and you are asked if you want to follow/join.

Your pic is great, an expert pic. Seeing this as an expert I will feel at home on this forum. Without this pic there is no point for me to enter the forum when there are no experts. Seeing an expert pic as a beginner I would never beleive to be able to do that, unicycling must be for experts only. I would fear that this forum will laugh at my beginner questions. A small child somewhere next to an expert pic would remind me that it is really possible for everyone and every question will be answered.
There doesn’t have to be 3 pics like I wrote, I just see the pic with 3 different backgrounds: young (beginner), old (beginner) and expert. And everyone of them has the fear to register with real data on a random forum and post questions someone could laugh at.

I agree with the above. Show both expert skills and beginner skills amongst a whole range of ages. I think both genders should be shown also. I know unicycling is a male dominated sport, but I think having both men and women in the banners will be that much more welcoming.

We’re going to need more than 3 photos to show the many aspects of this sport!

I photographed Unicon 21 you are welcome to download & make use of any of those photos if you like.

Yes.

Disregarding what was said above, I had a flew and selected my favorite pictures from all pics of this thread:

The pics have links to their origin to find out the owner. I kept the original order and gave a heading to every pic with my best intents and hopefully respectful to the owners.

All of these pictures are great, but this one especially is amazing

Those are really cool pictures. There are several with kids in it as well. One young kiddo on a giraffe. Kids will think it is that easy.

Thank you for sharing pictures!

Those are the kind of photos I envision for the banner.

But the forum is a collective work, so my opinion doesn’t matter that much (even if I tend to be stubborn).

I think it is a good collection that represents us or… things we keep striving for. Im looking forward to the banner you come up with. you can create a few that you maybe rotate through from time to time.

And also, those are sick, but I’d prefer to avoid featuring riders without helmets.

In that case you are quite limited when it comes to this kind of riding. Maybe you can ask AI to put a helmet on them? And knee and wrist guards while you are at it.
