Post a picture of your unicycle(s)

Definitely riding seat in front would be the more economical way to build skills toward the Ultimate Wheel. If your uni has a decent saddle, you shouldn’t need to modify it to improve leverage; better to learn to work with less, to help you get toward working with nothing. :-1:

But it’s still only a partial simulation of UW riding. Riding seat in front will help get your legs used to the position and power requirements, but with the UW one of the big early challenges is keeping the wheel vertical. It wants to flop over toward the lower pedal. Mastering this will make your legs even stronger!

yeah I should prolly be happy that I can ride normal unicycle. I should have learned to ride UW when I was way younger. The way it is now, I will just wait a few weeks for my knee joints to get better and then have another unhealthy few UW sessions. But every time I get into it, picking up where I left off comes back quicker. Im ‘only’ 49 but the knees are already complaining.

Seeing you riding that handles only cycle reminded me of some „unicycle“ movies made by AI.

Though you look way more serious! And elegant.
Looks like UPDing on such a machine can get you in serious troubles - more so than riding seat in front can.

I was really serious because I found it more challenging than I thought. I feel it is more difficult than SIF. It took me several tries to make it go, and I struggled to control the direction I wanted to go. The bike handle is so wide that the quick-release lever may not tighten the tube sufficiently. As a result, I experienced the UPD in the video when the tube rotated. This can potentially lead to serious issues.

Not my unicycle, but a painting of one that I made.

Looks like my daily browsing of the local marketplace paid off :slightly_smiling_face: New (used) unicycle day!

So this is my second 20" unicycle that I’ve gotten, both of them were bought used. The Nimbus, however, is likely a significant upgrade from the CyclePro :face_with_tongue: 48 spokes, square taper cotterless hub, QU-AX branded 114mm cranks, and a 25.4mm seatpost as well. Anyone have a guess at what specific model this is? I’m not too familiar with older unicycles. From what I can gather from the forum it’s probably a Nimbus freestyle-type uni.

I’m gonna try and clean off the surface rust and grime, as well as probably throw some fresh hardware, some new pedals, and a longer seatpost at it. The bearings are probably still good, surprisingly enough!

That is one OLD Nimbus

Fold up some aluminum foil into a thick rectangle, and dip it in vinegar, and then rub it on the rusty chrome. You shouldn’t need to scrub. The acid will make the rust lift off the chrome, and then a chemical reaction will cause the rust to adhere to the aluminum instead of the chrome. Then, wipe the dirty vinegar off the chrome with a dry rag or paper towel. The process will stain your fingertips a charcoal color if you don’t wear gloves, but the stain is pretty easy to scrub off. You will be amazed at how smooth and rust-free the chrome looks after completing this process. It might be a good idea to do a quick wipe-down with a wet (water) towel or paper towel, followed by a towel-dry, to neutralize any leftover vinegar.

The blue of that rim…

Taken while on a family vacation in central Utah.

I got started on that right away before I read your post, actually  Except instead of vinegar I use good ol’ Coca Cola. I followed a similar process with the CyclePro with great results!

As of now I just finished cleaning up the frame. I’ll do a little write-up in Post Your Current Projects Here and include some pictures once it’s completed.

Indeed it’s very pretty :head_shaking_vertically: That’s what caught my eye when I saw the listing for it

My 29” Road unicycle has the same rim. Roger at UDC dated my unicycle somewhere around 2007.

I actually just noticed a date code on the Kenda tire it was equipped with. It reads “03071052”. Assuming that it’s the same tire that it’s had since it was sold, it dates the unicycle to around March 2007 :face_with_tongue: (According to this page from Kenda)

I love the old blue and red rims they had. I have a red 29” and parts for a 20” as well as blue 20” that is identical to yours except it’s isis and a blue 26er I just got. Judging by the worn down grab handle the previous owner of my 20 did quite a bit of seat drag.

This is the new 26” I found on OfferUp a few days ago for $25. I’ll probably dig my 20” nimbus out to borrow the 114mm cranks and put them on the 26”. I’m thinking of trying to redrill those ventures into multi hole. I want this to be more of a cruiser so 150 is much too long.

I have that same exact 26”, but you found a much better deal that I did (and I was completely happy with the deal I found). The deal you found is amazing for that unicycle.

It was a great deal indeed. I’m so happy to have found it since I love the color of it and I had been wanting an isis 24 or 26 like this so I could have a cruiser with multi hole cranks. I’ve been loving my 24” torker with 89mm cranks but sometimes I want something just a little bit faster and sometimes I want just a bit more torque for low speed riding or rougher terrain. I think an older nimbus II like this is what I had actually hoped to get. Now I just have to look for a newer muni and get rid of some wheels and the fleet will be done for the time being

Love it so much that I‘m not even going to comment on those ugly L and R stickers.

@UniBeetle
It does also show in small on the crank itself 150R right after the word Venture, so you could do without the stickers.

Hello Uni2ONE2
It is very interesting for me to see your photo! I have an old 29" with the same frame and the blue rim. I have wondered which model it was, so it is nice to know that it most likely is a Nimbus :slightly_smiling_face:
Sadly enough I can’t mount it any longer. I’m getting older …
BR

Oh I hadn’t even paid attention to their presence. I think my 20” club still has them along with the thrift store price tag although none of them are readable. After I re-drill those ventures I’ll either stamp a letter into the backside if I am so inclined or I’ll just rely on the nimbus text on the hub to know which side is which. I’ll go peel some stickers off now for your viewing pleasure
