Post your home made unicycle upgrades.

Home Made Road frame update

Well I finished it after putting it down for a while. Now to test it. Not the best pictures but youv’e seen it in pieces.

need shorter cranks!

yes, but the best way to improve comfort is to remove your own nuts. not recommended

Brake mount mk2

Mark 2 brake mount. Thinking about mark 3 still

Double hole

Well it has double holes, and note to self: Don’t be so cheep, you can’t garbage pick everything. TOTAL COST: 0$ That’s right everything was picked from used bikes and garbage, About six hours of cut and weld time. Be more inventive.
Don’t like wheel, looks cool. But lopes at under 100 psi. could be the load on it (ME) 220lbs. But I can change it out easy enough. anyone interested? Made from trashed Mountain bike Spin rim 26" Cranks are two hole from childs bike. Old GT LTS 2 frame, check earlier posts.

                                                      Lobby

I’m interested in ANYTHING you build

I need to learn how to weld.

Welding is not really all that hard, just a lot of practice, practice, practice, and a half way decent machine. I have a small MIG welder that does pretty good with steel. Aluminum is a nother matter. Argon gas and more practiceing! Looked up MIG welding aluminum on the internet to find out what I was doing wrong. Now more practicing. LOL But sure is fun.

LobbyBopster… what part of Cali are you in? I’m a “larger and later” (230#X48y) uni guy myself and am very interested in learning more about your suspension retrofit for both my 36’er and my 24. Would help with landings as I’m trying to get back into skatepark unicycling after all these years

Would love to see your stuff in person.

I do like that bit of creative fabrication there. Nice work
Did you cut off the handlebar clamp off of the brake lever to make this brake mount??
Any more pics of this from the side view??
Does the lever blade/spooner bottom out on the underside of the seat/lift handle??

Brycer

i made some v brakes

Hi Brycer yes cut off the handlebar clamp. Left only the clamp bolt mount (it becomes one of the mounting points). Does the lever spooner bottom out NO!
I have the same distance as when the lever is mounted on a handlebar, it works. If I can find sum more Pre 2005 Mastercylinder. I’ll look at photo from the right hand side the week sometime! Pete.

nice clip less pedals i tried them once on the uni how is it working for you?

That’s the thread I was looking for the other day! I’ll post my repaired seatpost today, I made my own seatpost with a KH 2007 post and the top part of a 2009 forged seatpost. Both were broken, and I needed a seatpost. I used JB Weld and screws!

Ok, here it is! Not an upgrade but a homemade repair… My custom KH 2007-2009 seatpost!

Awesome!

So I saw others had made unicycle handle bars this way so I made one:

-16inch unicycle handle bar mounted on a KH Rail adapter:

-Repair on kink in HS22 Magura brake line (to stop it from bending to much we put a plastic semi flexable tube over it with tape) :

  • Brake clamps that me and my friends tried to make, but they don’t work :stuck_out_tongue: :

So today I tried out drilling a bumper and handle of mine, turned out ok.

Hopefully they won’t break, but if they do its no big deal. I don’t ride on concrete much. I nailed around them to hold them place while I drilled them.

Hey Outdoorjunkie-

I use the same ‘lollypop bearing frame for handle’ setup as you- only with a 20" frame instead of a 16". I would suggest putting your brake lever on the arm of the handle instead of on that extra bit in the middle. Mine is on the RHS because i use my right hand to brake and my left hand to flail. You can really grip onto the frame while modulating the lever with your index and middle finger. I prefer this method to using a spooner because this way you can get a finger or two right around the lever and generate much more braking force.

I’d also suggest getting some bar ends so if you UPD the frame doesn’t cut up your legs, and if you cut up an old inner tube you’ve got your own bar tape too.

I found the niceset thing to do with the back bumper was to drill the undeneath. Also I like to trim it on the right side so it’s more comfy when doing SIF hops.

As for teh front handle I found it was a bad idea, the holes kinda hurt on the other side when not wearing gloves. Now i’m going to have to buy a new bumper.

I decided to drill my bumper and my handle too… I’ll have to drill a few more in my handle to match my bumper… I got 86 holes in my bumper and 24 in my handle! :D:p I think it’s useless… but it looks really cool!
