Hi all, I’m Pete from downunder in Taupo, New Zealand
I started riding when on holiday in Czech Republic :czech_republic: in 2004 and rode a lot until 2017 when I had an unplanned dismount (slingshot off) my bicycle when commuting to work along a easy cycle path, which was being widened at the time!
Someone unfortunately had dug a deep hole and covered it with the grass without marking the hole.
My front wheel dropped into this hole and I flew over 10 metres into the air and landing head first 15 metres further down the hill, I can remember nothing of the accident or the month before still.
So this ended up ending my ability to ride and enjoy a bicycle and unicycles.
Now, having been diagnosed with a severe traumatic Brain Injury, and having not recovered in any way since the accident in the last six years, it’s time to start living life and doing things that I miss.
Bicycles are still out because only 8 to 10 kilometres I need to stop and have a nap for 20+ minutes.
So instead, I have a new KH19 inch unicycle coming, and I’m planning to go for 10 minute ride at a time close to home returning to have a 20 minute nap.
This hopefully will exercise my brains and help me enjoy life to the fullest.
I have a young dog called Zippy, who is my assistant.
Enjoy your life every day and go out and do things.
I’m so glad to have travelled extensively around the world years ago, as an Overland Truck tour driver and Adventure Bus Camping Tour driver.
Looking forward to sharing some of my future adventures above my trials unicycle :service_dog:
