MUni Weekend 16: Auburn, CA

For people who are already USA members (or aren’t sure if they’re current), contact Hans Mills (this page). He can tell you when you expire(d) so you know if you need to re-up. If you joined for U Games last year, you’re going to need to re-up.

UPDATES:
We’re going to cancel the T-shirts. Due to a lack of orders, it’s not enough to go through the process. We will make do without–just like we did at the first MUni Weekend in 1996! We had T-shirts from '97 onward though.

It’s an insurance thing. For us to be protected, everyone must be a USA member. Unless you have joined or renewed since October 7, 2010, you need to join or renew. Not sure? Contact the USA’s Membership Coordinator, Hans Mills. Click on the “Membership” link.

I have just posted the Schedule page. Start times are a balance between accommodating people with varying travel plans, and having somewhat reasonable ride finish times. Still got to post detail pages for each ride day, and the directions.

If you are flying in, you can use this thread to connect with other flyers for ride sharing. Right now I have arrival and departure times for only one rider, but he’s probably interested.

Note for air travelers:
October 6, the day most of you will fly in, is opening day for the new Terminal B at the Sacramento International Airport (depending on your airline). I hope you like it, and that everything works on their first day!

Hey John, I didn’t see this thread until now, is there a deadline for signing up? I think I can go but have to get a few things sorted first.

Thanks

ERIC

It would be great to have you, Eric! Only 5 or 6 people are actually registered so far, so I think you’re in pretty good shape. For people outside the US, I’m allowing payment by PayPal, though you’ll still need to sign a waiver. You can either scan it and send it that way, or just send your registration data electronically and sign a waiver copy when you get here.

C’mon, the rest of you, lets get this registration stuff out of the way before the day-of, pleeeze!

Noooo!!! :frowning:

I’m just not registered yet because I don’t know how to get there since Brian who wanted to give me a ride can’t go…

So again is there somebody who can give me a ride? I can take BART up to Oakland.

I really want to get there and the only other way to go is with a Greyhound bus but I think they don’t accept the 24" Muni…

Edit: Just thought of another possibility: If there’s somebody who has a spare Muni I can come with the bus…

Does this mean I’ll be reimbursed for the two t-shirts I ordered with my registration?

Of course. Check the website for more details.

AEV D., if you’re not on the Berkeley unicyclists mailing list, those are the people you should probably be talking to. Tom Holub and others:

Directions pages are now posted:

No worries John! I’m sure I’m not the only one that has to battle to keep my t-shirt drawer(s) from overflowing so much that they can’t close.

The MUni Weekend website is almost complete! The detail pages for the three riding days have all been posted:

For Kris:
Drawers? I have oversized plastic bins full of T-shirts from 30 years of unicycle events! :astonished:

I’m flying in to Sacramento on Thursday at 4:50 and leaving on Monday at 10:50. I’m planning to rent a car. Does anyone need a ride?

Registration count is now up to 8! It’s getting out of control!

Please mail your registrations ASAP if you can. The more paperwork that’s done ahead of time, the less you’ll have to wait at the trailhead on Friday and Saturday mornings.

As soon as I find my passport and make sure it is up to date I will do the paperwork and you can add Saskatchewan to the list.

That passport is around here somewhere…

It seems like there is really nobody who can give me a ride :frowning:

I took a look on the busses and there is a Greyhound bus driving to Sacramento on Friday.
Does somebody know, if they allow to take a Muni as luggage?

As I have to work on friday morning I would come in the evening.
Can somebody pick me up at the Greyhound bus stop in Sacramento?

This whole thing would be sooo much easier if I had the CA-driver’s licence and could just rent a car…

I don’t know if greyhound is stricter down there but up here we just put a baggage tag on whatever we want and it goes under the bus no problem. suitcase, bike, unicycle, potted plant, whatever.

Ok, thank you!

Is it just me or does the Greyhound ticket thing for nobody? I wanted to check the schedule again and since yesterday all I get are errors. :frowning:

Finally got my form in the mail. Was waiting for Hans to tell me if I need to renew or not, but ended up just adding that on.

Not sure about riding Friday - probably have to work and meet you guys for dinner that night.

I hope you have a better experience than I did with my one time riding Amtrak. Maybe their system was down for a while, or maybe you need to try a different web browser.

For your uni on the bus, I agree with Sask; find a big bag for it and treat it like luggage (pedals off). Trash bag if necessary, but an old duffel would be better. If you can make it to Sacramento, you can probably then get a city bus to bring you close to my house. We can pick you up from there, but I can’t guarantee a pickup from downtown. Kris Holm arrived at his first MUni Weekend by bus also. I first met him when I picked him up!

Yaay! Nathan is coming! It wouldn’t be MUni Weekend without you. I think Nathan’s been to every one except the first one, except maybe 2001, which was right after 9/11 and there were no flights to Idaho. I’m working on getting at least one person besides myself who was there in '96…

Registration count is now up to 11.

What’s up with the 9:00 AM start on Friday? If we’ve only got half a day of events, why don’t we make it in the afternoon so people driving in can make it?
