Monster Uni: Post Your Fat Uni Here !

Finally saw fat tires.

I kept reading about the fat tires and seeing the pictures. I’ve been like Yeah, they look a bit bigger but not all that impressive honestly.

Today I’m walking through our Walmart and a 26" Mongoose bicycle with 4" wide tires is sitting there. HOLY CRAP, THEY ARE HUGE !

The pictures on here don’t do justice in showing just how big these things are. You need to take shots with items next to them for comparison. Put a beer/soda can or something so people who haven’t seen one in real life can see just how big they are.

I didn’t really care before, but now I think I need to get one.

fat tyre needs rest (size: 26x4)…

BOING time!

That looks like an awesome custom handle set up

One day I might have a picture to add to this thread, in the mean time I’ll drool over everyone else’s

They look awesome. Come on people. More pics. I’m feeling inspired

I’ve got mine and my friend’s fatties! 2 of my 3 prototype frames, still holding strong

We’ll see some more of these frames soon, more are in production

Here comes the Kraken !

Total weight: 6.4 kg / 14.1 lbs

Can’t wait to put this floatation device to the test :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool! What types of terrain will you be riding? Are you going to add a brake?

So you wouldn’t recommend this for road riding then, even at higher pressures?

I can’t believe you use it for muni. Does the lack of traction pose any problems out on the trail?

Bri

Here are mine! 26x4" and 29x3"

I am not planning any steep mountain rides with it so no brakes in the near future.

For now I will focus on deep sand & gravel. must wait next winter to test it in all kind of snow.

I will also try it in conventional ride just for fum.

And if I am brave enough, I might go and ride in mud next fall

so this incited me to weight my FrankenMuni -> 6.3 kg
I find my tyre to be heavy (when going down steep hills)
So FrankenMuni is for single tracks in the woods But not for long mountain rides

There must be more people with fat unis out there surely?? I thought they would be really popular. They look great.

I tried to ride at a high pressure. Unicycle is riding and controlling well on the road. But the main advantage of fatuni for which it was created - LOW pressure - is lost in this case. Tire bounces off obstacles like popcorn on heating and very susceptible to puncture!:frowning:

Tire goes well on dry coating. Snow and mud - no comment!

I got Surly Nate!

Maxxis High Roller 26x2.70˝ and Surly Nate

Weight is impressive! %)

Thanks! Your uni looks awesome! Love the color scheme. How does it roll compared to your smooth tire?

Finally got my 24" fat freewheel back from the bike shop. The brake is a little too grippy so I need to make some adjustments. I also need to experiment with tire pressure.

Thank you!

Much better! I LOVE my Fatty!

A freewheel???!!! Please post videos. That’s going to be awesome.

the diggers latest …

Got my latest FUNI frame ready.
It’s an old Koxx TracMonster … modified.
There is clearance now for “5.something”

Did my first real 4.8 ride today…love it

Next thing is a brake and the Lou for the muddy season.
