All my unicycles together!
Mad4One URC 29"
Nimbus II 20"
Club 5â 20" Giraffe
Hoppley 16"
I also have a 16" Hedstrom, but it doesnât really deserve to be called a unicycle.
what a mess!
Nice collection!
I bet this is exactly how and where they are stored on a daily basis.
Yeah, my parents keep telling me to move them ![]()
The Hedstrom saddle is certainly a challenge to ride as a beginner.
No, it is challenging to ride as an experienced rider as well.
Parents can really be a pain, sometimes. Mine did the same. Not with unicycles (I only had one, back then), but with everything else.
My wife always complains about where I store my uniâs. Every room has one. As for my kids I donât care if they make a mess. That is what kids do and in that sense Im still a kid as well. In the office they told me to clean my desk before going home and not leave coffee stains. If they hadnât said anything, I wouldnât have noticed.
I have been known to tell people that Iâm a child trapped in a manâs body. Never lose that spark of fun. Once you do youâre a grumpy adult and it is all over.
by the time my knees will give up and I wonât be able to ride uni anymore, I will be a really grumpy old man.
Today I got my 24 muni Nimbus with the KH Fusion Freeride saddle and handle bars. The only thing I was very surprised by though is that the cranks are 150mm. I can hard reach when the pedal is down. Why would a 24 come with 150mm pedals. I also have Quax 24" with road tire, but its cranks are shorter. I havenât been able to get on with the very long pedals.
You should drop the seat ![]()
The saddle pin is already nearly touching the tire. It cannot go any lower. It must be like riding a 29" with 165mm cranks. Luckily I have 140s somewhere.
Almost any saw or angle grinder will solve the problem. In case you are around here Iâll cut whatever you want ![]()
Yes Im aware of that. I also sawed off a cm from the saddle on the 36", because it was a tad too high. That made mounting it easier. It was just that this uni is all new that makes me reluctant to already start sawing stuff off. First I will check with the shorter cranks. But thanks.
You just have to make sure to saw the right thing off - try to keep your hands (and tools) off the fork legs.
The seatpost on the other hand is a good starting point. Shorten it a bit; chances are thatâll do the trick and you wonât have to go any further.
funny!
I wonât saw in the fork nor in my fingers. First I will use shorter cranks. I saw that the other 24 I have is a QuAx with a very different crank setup. I canât use an Allen key to take the crank bolt off. That uni has 125mm cranks, but I can understand muniâs have slightly longer cranks than road unis (runiâs?)
I just found some spare 127 twin-hole KH cranks. That will be closer to the 125s. Always good to have some spare components laying around.
uhm how can I get the cranks off the new unicycle. They are superstuck. ISIS cranks. The initial bolt that I take out with the Allen key is stuck. I have a crank lifter, but Im not even at that stage yet.
For those interested: I now see I have the nice L/R stickers on the frame still. Lucky me being in the No-Peel club.
Donât do this!
Rather use a pipe cutter, theyâre cheap at any builders merchant or DIY store. Theyâre also safer and a whole lot more accurate at cutting.
