Pictures of your latest ride

The Sonoran Desert is the lushest desert. We get 12 inches of rain a year that supports lots of desert trees and plants. Of course they are all pretty thorny which is good motivation for riding clean lines. I have found full-fingered gloves to be a necessity, since we MUni riders tend to have our arms out when we are going down a rough trail. In addition to the desert rides, there are some great rides at higher elevation in the local mountains which rise up over 9000’. I will snap a few photos next time I get into the pines.

Let me know if you are ever in this neck of the woods and I can show some nice riding. I have plenty of unis to go around for people passing through without their uni.

Here’s one to compliment the one posted earlier by Lunicycle. This is the Culvert Trail, part of the Clementine Loop in Auburn. It was the first ride of the first MUni Weekend, back in 1996.

Turtle, I love your photos. I’d really love to join you guys for a ride! Someday.

Had a conference in Mendoza Argentina. Took a bus to Podrerillos, wasn’t sure where to go so I just rode up hill towards the snow covered mountains. When the road expired I asked around and found trails to a waterfall up where the Guanaco roam. Great day: 25mi roundtrip, 5000 ft vert. Thanks to Steveyo for the 29’er guni loan - perfect wheel for this ride.

Up the road

End of the road part

Things are looking up!

Staged shot

Tricky stream crossing

The goal of the day Cascadas El Salto (big waterfall in the background)

Highpoint of the day

Finally some downhill!

Just rewards - high Altitude Brew Pup (man I was hungry!)

@rolandisimo: great pics, that must have been a great ride.

i also like the desert pics!

Great pics! You should have bought some Mendoza wine there, though. It’s my favorite kind. But of course it is available everywhere else too. It just reminded me of the wine.

Sweet - I’m glad at least my uni can do that ride, even if wasn’t there!

Did you have your GPS? I’d love to see the elevation profile.

Steveyo, wish were along for that one, you would have liked it. Plus, If I had a partner I might have gone for the summit at the top. I have the GPS but will probably have to wait till I get to my home computer to get the elevation profile off. GPS’s estimated elevation at start and end say I climbed 5000ft. First 2/3 were on the road, nice steady hill climb to get warmed up (it was freezing at sunrise). Last 1/3 on trails were largely hiking up, which was fine because I was happy to take in the view and birdwatch. Coming back down I could ride most of the trail, very fun.

today i did my “behind my house” downhill: uphill with the bus (right in front of the house) and downhill 1000 vertical meters all singletrail.
sarah, julia and valentin enjoined me. valentin landed the drop on the pic, i didn’t  (but was very close… )

Interesting optical illusion in the middle one of those three pictures, with the rider in white and the pine trees.

Scroll down past it, then scroll back up fairly rapidly. The rider seems to shrink on your screen.

LOL. Fantastic! And if you do it the other way, she gets bigger again!

STM

Nothing to see here, move along.

Some captures frim my latest uni-cable cam video. The last gives a real sense of the speed at which the camera moves down the cable line…and surprisingly smoothly! The 2nd & 3rd pic give a good indication of the height of the camera rig near the start point.

Clever concept. I just have a husband who runs around panting and snapping pictures as I unicycle. :stuck_out_tongue:

Me too!:) I have to admit that he isn’t too good at it. Lots of camera shake.

I pretty much only ride Muni these days but I got out on the street this weekend and did a little trials stuff for the hell of it. Fun tme, but a little hard on my back.

Jump the snake!

Is that a Barca shirt you’re sporting?

Impressive. The landing slope looks really loose and slippery. Nice pictures.

Rob

How did you exit “the snake”; drop off the front into the sand? Or are you sort of posing? Sweet picture!
