Yeah I gotta say it was awesome. I just need to get better at negotiating smaller turns, but I can see how it could easily become my main muni ride. ![]()
hahahahaha! Vindicated! ![]()
…the irony inherent in the hipsters’ claim of divergence from the mainstream is that the instant any trend becomes fashionable, the hordes rush in, and the latest “look” becomes the de facto uniform of the day, the very essence of conformity.
Yeah, the wheel size is definitely a bear to throw around. I’m trying to focus more on carrying some speed through corners so you can rail the berms and make hair pins more smooth.
RAD is the word!
Even ‘The Hulkster’ couldnt be cooler!

BarHarbor Ocean ride
Ive been riding around Bar Harbor on vacation all week and it’s awesome! Very friendly folks from all over, and overwhelmingly positive response to our sport. Part of this ride involved crossing the sand bar that’s exposed at low tide to get to an adjacent island across from Bar Harbor (proper). See Strava link. A short 1 mile trail, but rugged trail to the top has a beautiful exposed rock view of town from across the harbor. Without full knowledge of tides, or how long the sand bar remains exposed, I got back down to bottom of the trail head to see the sand bar covered in water, and quickly rising. Just made it back across with a salt water ride to get back to land. Yes, I rinsed with fresh afterward.. After arriving back safe, I asked locals how often do people get stuck on the island, and the answer was too often to count. Many places to explore, and highly recommended destination for unicyclists, and slow car traffic everywhere!
Nice, thanks for getting them use to the idea of unicycles. I am heading up there with my 36 for a few days starting Sunday.
Hi there, my first post on this forum. ![]()
Learning to ride on rocky trails. It’s hard, especially the uphill parts.
No kidding! I consider myself a pretty strong hillclimber, but that left picture would absolutely murder me. Rocky uphills are the bane of my existence ![]()
Bet you have fun riding down it though ![]()
Last trip on italian Dolomites
Found a fence full of locks and keys, and an overpass with a cool view of train tracks. It’s sad that this is the highlight of my day. I really miss the Redwoods.
Whoa..!never knew locks and keys could look so pretty.
Of course, your muni makes them outstanding.
Hey Giocologgi, those are super photos especially the last two photos. Beautiful scenery. Well done.
…pulled over by the Concorde on the way home so that Fast and Slow could meet. My new phone actually produces something better than the usual blur, so I’ll start snapping more snaps! ![]()
Dang, G, those snaps are insanely cool! I MUST get over to the Dolomites. I hear there are some fantastic via ferrata climbing routes in the area. Thanks!
I hear you, but, hey, hold up a minute. Think about it: in their respective modus operandi both these vehicles represent rapid transit.
Nice shot. Now, if we can just have one of you riding down the stairs… Then you’d really have something. Can’t wait to see that…
Shame on me! I live 200 km from them, and I almost never go there for a ride…![]()
Thanks for the comments!

This pennyfarthing (with winged pigs riding it, apparently) bike rack exists along where I was riding yesterday. I’ve been through here before, but I did’t recall the bike rack, so, photo-op time.
This was my first “big” ride on this new tire. At 29x2.0, is a little wider and a lot heavier than the one it replaced and not worn through to the threads. The heavier wheel encouraged me to pedal faster and for longer periods than the previous, more nimble one. What a workout. People speak of being shattered after a hard muni ride. I was, and this was road. I could’ve lived without the saddle soreness and numbness (from spending more time on the seat), but my muscles are definitely letting me know I used them, which means they’ll become stronger. It’s going to take some work to get good at stopping and idling this heavier tire. Until then, I’m going to have to dismount at intersections. If it’s like going to shorter cranks, that shouldn’t take too long.
Out of curiosity, what tyre did you have on that was thinner than 29x2.0? ![]()
if thats an adult trainer as i suspect, a 700x45c.
Summer GoPro madness! Today was supposed to be a day of rest because I uni-commuted three times this week. But, it was sunny and I was feeling my coffee, so I headed over to my old Marymoor stompin’ grounds to watch the races. It was fun. Between races they let me cruise around the pits. After spectating for a bit, I pedaled up to Woodinville and back for a nice loop. ![]()
