Pictures of your latest ride continued

Parts of the sandy road are ok, but they let too heavy machines drive on it so other places are cambered too much. I just cant ride on those

Today was my last ride. I Changed the Cranks from 100mm to 127 mm and it works great for me. Yesterday I broke my Cheap Temu Pedal, now I’ve fitted Crankbrother Stamp 1 Pedals on the 24” Muni, also in purple.

Today was -2ºC here and sunny. Great for a ride, though there was a strong cold wind as well. Luckily we don’t have snow. That’s just not for me

Finally someone who‘s happy with the amount of snow he got

Today i was riding my 36” but it was cold. 13 km in 1 Hours and 10 Minutes.

Shouldnt 13km take less than an hour on a 36”, especially when it is cold? I do 10km in 45mins with the 29” and I am not particularly fast.

I’ve 105 Elevation Meters on the 13 km Tour and the hole December I was Lazy. Normaly I’m also faster.

I have been thinking about some urban riding for a while.
The Aarhus harbour front offers wide pedestrian areas, ramps between levels and interesting modern architecture. And not too much traffic. Actually it turns out I suck at grabbing traffic light poles while waiting for the green light. It’s seems like a simple technique but I UPD’ed twice because of this.

Got out there before it got too busy because of the nice weather.

Can be a bit problematic on a 36er. I guess slowing down early is the key.

That first picture is very nice. Would certainly make for a great photo opportunity during the blue hour.

Yes, coming to a stop more accurately would have helped.
It is odd how the simplest techniques needs practicing. Were others are learnt in minutes. Ok, maybe I should find a light pole and actually practice stopping by that pole for a few minutes…
It is only a 32”. Did not dare to go for the 36”. Or just not yet anyway…
Yes, missed the blue hour. I was counting on avoiding the frost and ice of the night by starting after sunrise.

This can only mean that you need a 29er with a studded tyre  …or even better: someone should offer a studded 32" tyre.

Ohh I would love a uni with a studded tire! The idea is so mind blowing!

And if you’re not intending to ride single trails and such, a moderately studded tyre should already do:

Good enough for icy streets while not too loud or heavy due to the studs. Doesn’t corner particularly well, though.

Time to get back in shape.

But when you then UPD at a lamppost, do you then free-mount when taking off or do you still mount at the post and then take off. I find free-mounting easier than pushing off from a pole. Prolly coz I dont have momentum.

Starting off the lamppost is challenging because you have to go across some bumps at almost zero speed while there are some spectators watching.

Got some snow yesterday, so I took it out for a ride today. Thanks to the tire it handled the mixed snow/ice/slush like a champ :slightly_smiling_face:

Maybe just a 29” wheel with a studded tire to put on the 32” frame. The number of days with icy condition here does not justify a dedicated uni.

I too find free mounting easier. Yes, there is something about the momentum also when stopping. I prefer to stay on the uni rather than mounting under pressure from the car behind waiting to turn right. If you are unlucky, the patience of the motorist runs out just when you are ready to accelerate into the crossing…
