UniKirk
Wished and got a unicycle (20”) for my 10th birthday or there about. Took me forever to learn as I am not god at consistent practice.
At about 14 year of age, I learned the rollback mount after seeing a young artist doing it. Idling came almost naturally after that. Soon after the crank thread stripped. The 70ties cotter pin crank was obsolete. It ended there.
As an adult I occasionally thought about stating again but a bad back made me reluctant.
Winter 2023.
Found a unicycle identical to the one I had as a kid, square hole crank though. 5 €. Less than a large beer these days. Seemed feasible to ride but seat height far too low.
Sourced a Ø22 mm stainless water pipe via the internet for 4 times as much as the cycle… it worked!
Practice in an industrial area as my 13 year old son is not keen on his friends seeing me being this nerdy…. Got tired of the parking lot. Found a gravel path near by and it was rideable. Found, by accident, easy single trail route somewhat rideable…
Discovered municycling on YouTube - brain exploded… Got a 20” mountain bike like tire.
Found likeminded friends via Facebook half my age. Went municycling.
Borrowed a KH29”. Fantastic but hard for my weak untrained legs.
Got my Nimbus 26” Muni with brake last week (nov 2023).
It is a step back in control but almost a doubling in average speed.
