when it’s too warm in winter…
Indoor idling practice today! I haven’t spent much time on my 19” in a while, so it’s fun to get on it and practice control.
The Cranks are very good. I also have the same on my Trial and a view years ago I ride 100 mm cranks on my Trial and now the 140 Long version, it’s very long but it’s good.
Do you know why they are marked as a long model? Isn’t 140mm just 140mm?
So I just wanted to take my 16" for a last ride before switching from 45s to 75s.
The conditions were just to terrible. I had to give up and switch to my 29er.
Even on a 29er it was challenging enough, with some unrideable UPD traps. I think maybe 16" might be to small for true winter conditions, regardless of crank length.
It was a beautiful day though, and I went past the Opera of Oslo. To bad I had a lot of errands to run, or I would have taken an even bigger round around town. Next time! Also, riding on uneven ice with lots of stuff under your arm, cos your backpack is full did not make matters easier!

Yes, that’s right. There’re shorter cranks with 133 mm at the shop for few years ago. But the Hubs are not available I looked for a year ago in the shop. The Cranks I don’t know it if there’re in Stock.
It snowed the past two days, which turned to ice in places. It’s melting today, but still icy in some places.
I love my Vee Speedster tire, but since it is not studded and doesn’t have knobbies, this section was a big, “Nope!”
I had a double take there @Uni2ONE2 , I thought you had posted my picture for me!
This is not snow, but it did not get above freezing all day on Friday and the morning frost was still on the fields at sunset
A little fun in the snow today! Just under 6 miles / 9 km, my first real snow ride. It was supposed to start snowing early this morning and I was all set to ride in more snow than this, but the bulk of the storm is coming after dark tonight so I took what I could get…
-12C is bad enough for me, congrats on getting out in -12F! Brrrr (cranks up house heater)
It’s better than walking to class in that temperature. It was COOOOOLD.
Challenged myself today with my hilliest ride so far. 10.5 miles with 1170ft elevation gain. Mostly on gravel roads, with a spin along the tarmac to get back to the start. I estimate I rode around 75% of the climbs, which I was happy with. And I remembered to stop for a couple of photos, which I don’t often remember to do. So one looking south west across the Firth of Clyde towards north Ayrshire and one looking back up towards loch long and the ‘arrochar alps’.
After Wednesdays ride I was out again on Friday. Got a little carried away, a little lost but had a good ride which I will do again. Another pr for both distance and elevation, this time a bit over 16 miles and a bit over 1300 feet. Also spotted a couple of golden eagles, but I didn’t manage to get a decent photo of them.
After a 2 month hiatus of not riding because of an injury I felt good enough to give it a go. Took BigBlue out for safety. It was 40 mins of blissful glee as I rode and pushed the limits a bit testing where I was at. Still more recovery but I can ride without pain. Looking forward to more riding again. I missed it a lot.
Had a ride with @PedalSprell. He took a little nap on our trip around Oslo.
Here is one of both of us
That’s perfect.
Actually, I was a bit late for the trip, and when approaching the Opera someone yells “here comes the circus clown!” It turned out that was @ruari who somehow managed to get behind me, even though he arrived before me.
Also, I knew he wouldn’t come, because he had said he was otherwise occupied. Turned out he had a sudden opening, and was also the only one showing up for the trip, which turned out to be great, and quite long with only the pair of us.
Also, I made the mistake of staying on the road instead of following @ruari on the sidewalk when we approched a barrier that only lets the bus through. So instead of hopping up on the sidewalk and risking a UPD, I went for the safe choice which was to climb over the barrier while rolling my 29er under it, and remounting on the other side. No feet on the ground, even if that counted as a dismount I guess. A planned one at least? That was a truly graceful manoeuver, as Ruarí commented.
Looks like PS to me - a planned surmount
