Enjoyed this first ride on the 36" in two months and I surprisingly made a few PRs on some Strava segments (I use a Garmin Edge for recording so it should be fairly accurate). Still have a bit of a psychological barrier about riding the 36". For some reason it just feels a bit scary even though I’m objectively almost as skilled mounting/riding the 36" as I am on my 29" which is my favorite.
Yes it’s “homemade” almost 1½ year ago. I laced the wheel myself. It’s a KH Spirit hub, Nextie 36h hookless rim / no issues so far at 45-50psi with the Vee T-monster tire.
I run 137mm/117mm cranks. I’ve tried the 117mm holes and its nice and smooth but i prefer a bit more control and there are a few places on my regular routes that would be impossible for me @ 137mm with my current skills. Maybe someday…
This morning I had a small peloton of cyclists ride up alongside me for a few moments, they said nothing, just nodded in appreciation, so just as they rode off I said “Nice training wheels” to which they chuckled then carried on their way.
It amused me anyway.
First time back on the 29 since I hurt my foot back in October. Six weeks ago, mid 80s and wildfire smoke, today mid 30s and dodging ice and snow! Great to be back in action (although I feel like I’m starting over)
Nice. It’s great to Hear fhat thé small kids came Up ans go out ans Ride a Unicycle. Most Young people are Sitzung for thé PC or Télévision or don’t go out ans have fun. It’s terrible i think.
It snowed here for the first time this year and I was able to try out my muni in the snow for the first time as well. I feel great knowing that the winter weather won’t force me to take a break from unicycling.
