My lifestyle lately has led me to fall in love with movies that are really awe-inspiring, just flat out good movies.
I don’t mean funny movies, or anything to chick flicky.
I mean, movies that have to do with the whole range of life and really look at what you do in your life and how that happens.
I guess the official genre is Drama.
But I just want to see what examples everyone here can come up with.
My examples are “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”
“Almost Famous” especially the tiny dancer scene.
Just movies that make you think about life in a whole I guess.
The Shawshank Redemption
The World According to Garp
To Kill A Mockingbird
To Sir With Love
The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Stranger Than Fiction
Now Voyager
Bambi
Watch The King of Masks. It’s the best movie EVER made.
Also watch 'Round Midnight. It’s superb.
Ran is also another excellent film, based on King Lear.
Gran Torino was the most recently made one that wad kinda inspiring that I’ve seen.
I can’t think of much more. You may want to see Notes on a Scandal, though that’s not particularly inspiring. It does let you see life through another point of view (it can be somewhat creepy, not in a fictional, horror film way, but more in a everyday creepiness kinda thing).
There have been a few more movies that I found somewhat inspiring, though due to my terrible memory I have forgotten their names. If I think of them I’ll mention them.
Despite the ending, that movie filled me with such anxiety, I could barely watch it. I suppose that’s a good thing in a way. But even so, having been a librarian at two brokerage houses, I never found the aspiration to be a stock broker to be particularly admirable. (Which is not to say, I don’t appreciate his desire to provide for his son.)
