Custom Nimbus's

I did this after having clearance issues after puting a 2.25 Maxis Max Daddy on my 20" 2007 Nimbus X. I used several layers of paper board which compressed and I had to add more several times.

Be weary of this as the bearing holders won’t be as strong as they’d normally be.

On my X, the allen bolts thread into the frame and would back out, so I got some longer screws, washers, lock washers, and locking nuts (4 of each) at my local hardware store. I haven’t ridden it tons since, but no problems yet. (Tire changes take ~ 1/3rd longer.)

Nimbusi Rule

it should be “nimbi”. “-us” is an ending borrowed from second declension masculine latin endings to indicate nominative case, singular. the plural nominative case for second declension masculine endings is “-i”.

wow…just wow.

How old are you??

Says right under my username, 16.

no it’s not, it has no brake mounts and weighs more. However, if it pretty close, deffinitely worth considering.

Buying an Nimbus

I just joined the forum but I have been following it for a couple of months. I have a quick question.
I am ordering a 19"trials Nimbus (my first uni) from the Canadian Unicycle.com and I wanted to upgrade to the KH Moment cranks.
They gave me the option of changing the wheelset to a 07 pre-Moment KH trials wheelset with the older version of the KH cranks (I guess this is the older version before Moments came out?) for the same price as the stock Nimbus. I guess they had this wheelset sitting around. Is this worth it or should I just get the stock wheelset and upgrade to the Moment cranks? Is there much difference between the older and newer versions of the KH wheelset?
Thanks for taking the time to check out my question.

Well, there isn’t a canadian unicycle.com so…

It is possible that the older setup they are offering you is not the ISIS version of splined, so you will be limited in what other cranks you could have if you ever wanted different or new ones. Other than that, I do not know about old KH parts because I don’t have any. Your best bet to start off with is to ask for the actual specs of the wheelset.

I’ve ordered a Nimbus MUNI, post pics when I get it!

It is municycle.ca.
It has a similar page to the other unicycle.com sites and links to them although I noticed that the other countries sites don’t link to the Canadian one…
It think it is based out of Calgary.

I talked to them again and they checked and the wheelset is an '05 not an '07. They are out of the KH moments so I guess i’ll order them from the states unless I can find somewhere else in Canada. Maybe Bedford?

order the moments from bedford, if you order a whole uni your going to have to pay those nasty border fee’s. I ordered my nimbus through unicycle.com and they slapped on an extra $85, that sucked big time. or just wait..

I ended up ordering a stock Nimbus Trials. I’ll add the Moments later, I’m just learning anyway. I’m pretty excited.
Thanks for your help.

And I’m sure plenty of people never will. I think people really underestimate them.

well its nice not to have to upgrade later, having all of the equipment right awway means you dont have any downtime when you bend the bad ones.

its also nice having an established well known name under you, rather then something “cheaper”.

And moments are nice and big and flat so plenty of room to land on for unispins etc. and they’re nice for grinding IMO.

probably because…THEY’RE DESIGNED BETTER!! ahhhhhhhhhh… :sunglasses:

or maybe… because theyre 4 times as expensive

its $50 more…

why wouldnt you? its almost dumb not to
