I asked for a bosozoku from the 80s
It looks like negative clearance. Must be low PSI and she’s dragging on the frame instead of using a brake
Don’t overlook those cranks that aren’t 180 degrees from each other! She certainly likes a challenge.
that is why she doesn’t need a brake disc or brake pads. It’s all built-in. The AI thought about everything. Very intelligent.
The computers been drinking heavily again. We are saved from it’s hyper realistic videos! All hail the digital ale that keep our robot overlords inebriated.
Why have I not heard of this place? Or about Terry Peterson (or Rob Bescoby)'s epic ride? That/those were impressive achievements!
FWIW, I got my 45" wheeled unicycle in 1982. Tom Miller (The Unicycle Factory) made it for a possible 100 mile attempt. His standard size for Big Wheels was 40". While I never attempted a century on it, I did manage to do one many years later on a 36". Nothing beats having a tire with air in it over a solid rubber one!
In 1983 I got a chance to ride what was then the world’s largest unicycle (wheel); approximately 63.5" diameter, made by Goran Lundstrom of Sweden. I could barely reach the pedals.
This thread is full of really interesting illustrations! I’ll have to go through the whole thing when I have more time…
I have on rare occasions tested my “alt text” for images I upload to social media by asking AI to generate an image based on my written description and then compare how close the images (real and generated) are.
For example I took this on my ride today
I then prompted copilot like so
Create an image from the following description: A metal sculpture of a elephant sitting down on its behind on a round concrete pedestal. The elephant has its front legs forward and the trunk reaching down into a hole in the pedestal. In the background is lush greenery of a park. It is also possible to make out part of the course of a waterway. There are some coloured buildings behind the trees. Resting againgst the chest of the elephant is a large red framed unicycle, with a tyre that has tan coloured sidewalls. The unicycle also has a disc brake.
and I got back the following
Not the worst. I mean it has a hatchet style frame and seems to be missing cranks (or maybe they are so short they are hard to see) but otherwise, it is pretty close!
I was tempted to replace the real image for the AI one on my Strava activity and then if anyone commented it looked like AI, silently replace it for the real image, just to fuck with them.
why does AI always forget the pedals. You should have added it in the text I guess “The pedals are big enough for an elephant to ride the unicycle and the cranks are strong enough to carry a metal elephant.”
Yeah cranks and pedals are always hard it seems. Most the the big giveaways that stuff is fake are related to that.
…and to the spokes. They rarely make sense. In this case theres‘s even one on the outside of the disc…
But all in all pretty good, and I love that red! Could you please ask your AI tool what RAL number that is?
I have done this now. My Strava has the fake image, so I am all ready to mess with the first person who notices.
So in the Last Post Wins thread I wanted to show what a UW riding Setonix looks like, but wrote unicycle instead. Then I wanted to recify that to an Ultimate Wheel and now I have this:
command:
“quokka riding a purple 36” Ultimate Wheel with white pedals near a waterfall."
This one looks more like a rat than the animal on the green uni. It was prolly mean of me to put a quokka on a UW, because they have too short legs, but at least AI gave it the white pedals.
I do like the spokes on this one, but it is not a 36" UW
My wife was messing around with ChatGPT having fed it photos of our new cat. She sent me this:
So I complained that unicycles don’t have to be in a circus. And they don’t have BMX handlebars. She told Chat this, he apologized and made this:
So I complained again that it has a missing crank and pedal. I told her that missing pedals/cranks have been a reoccurring joke on this forum. So she turned back to chatGPG and asked him to readjust the picture, especially as everyone on unicyclist.com was making fun of the lack of pedals.
And so he came up with this:
He’s either very dumb or too clever.
The cat is like wheel walking beside the wheel. I can’t do that, nor can I really wheel walk for that matter. I’m sure wheel walkers can ride a meter or so with both feet on the fork/frame.
agreed!
That’s a special picture, in that it’s the front crank that’s missing, not the one that is hidden behind the wheel. Usually it’s the other way round.
I like that green tone, by the way.
yeah when I saw that, I was already trying to imagine what my new 36" UW would look like in lawngreen instead of the purple that I initially wanted for it. Still I will go for the metalic dark purple. It is more sporty than this green.
Hi @ruari, I used your prompt, but midjourney has a more free artistic approach to the elephant sculpture. And unicycles also seem to be an absolute niche in this AI.
In terms of asthethetics though, they are quite nice.
In any case, I have a feeling that Copilot might have ‘seen’ images of the original statue before, even though I personally did not provide one. I asked it afters, “if this image it created actually existed where in the world would it be?”. It suggested a couple of locations but one of them was along the main river in Oslo, which is exactly where the real image is taken from. So it might be a case of the AI ‘cheating’ a little.
I tried it again by the way. Here is a picture I took yesterday
If I prompt copilot with the following description
Create an image from the following description: A view of a steep grassy hill, with a gravel trail coming down on the left. To the right are many pine trees. In the centre foreground of this scene is a set of wooden benches and tables stacked. Leaning against that is a large wheeled unicycle with a red frame, with tan coloured sidewalls to the tyre. To the left of this is a birch tree.
I get this image
I mean, it is in the ballpark but looks a lot less real. Though the uni does at least have one crank, albeit crazy long.
