AI Unicycle drawing challenge

Honestly shitty images aside, I feel like this at least confirms that my alt text game is realtively strong.

The similarities confirm that copilot is likely using the chatgpt backend or some iteration of it.

Yes, it does, the Internet confirms it :+1:

More elegant, more distinguished …call it even more intellectual if you want. But more sporty? Thans this green :interrobang:
No way!

I like those stacked benches.
By the way, what’s that fuss about tan coloured sidewalls? Aren’t short cranks cutting it anymore?

But you keep forgetting to insist that the unis have cranks and pedals :joy:

ruari’s captions inspired me. I remember doing this with online translation when it was new as a litmus test. Some of those translations were hilarious after a couple rounds of feeding it back and forth between two languages.

So I asked ChatGPT to describe this photo to me, and then asked it to generate a picture based on the description. Not surprisingly, it has crank and spoke issues.

"This photo depicts a peaceful rural scene on a clear day. The foreground features a green unicycle leaning against a wooden fence post. The fence, made of wood and wire, runs along a gently sloping grassy pasture, which is speckled with small yellow flowers (likely dandelions). To the right, there’s a green metal farm gate that is open or loosely propped.

In the background, the open field extends toward a distant line of trees, which are beginning to show spring foliage in various shades of green, with a few hints of red or brown. The sky above is mostly clear with a slight haze and faint cloud cover, suggesting calm, mild weather.

The setting appears to be tranquil farmland or a nature preserve, ideal for cycling, walking, or enjoying the outdoors."

… which it describes as

"This image shows a serene rural scene on a clear day. In the foreground, there’s a green unicycle leaning against a wooden fence post. The fence is made of wooden posts and two horizontal strands of wire, running parallel to a grassy path. Just to the right of the unicycle is a green metal farm gate that appears to be propped open.

The surrounding area is an expansive, gently sloping green field dotted with small yellow flowers—most likely dandelions. In the distance, there’s a line of leafing trees showing early spring foliage in various shades of green, with some hints of reddish or brown tones. The sky above is lightly hazy with a pale blue hue, suggesting calm and mild weather.

The scene conveys a peaceful, slightly pastoral atmosphere—ideal for a countryside ride or walk."

Interesting that it wants to make it in to more of a drawing than a photo but it’s pretty consistent… especially at leaving out cranks.

Ha, I decided to ask ChatGPT to self-diagnose…

What is wrong with the unicycle in that image

The unicycle in the image has a key issue: it is missing the cranks and pedals. The crank arms that connect the pedals to the axle are completely absent, which would make the unicycle non-functional in real life. Without cranks and pedals, the rider has no way to propel or balance the unicycle. Would you like a corrected version with cranks and pedals added?

I’m sure nobody is surprised that the “corrected version” is almost identical to the original, still missing a crank and pedal… obviously the left GPU has no idea what the right GPU is doing.

On self reflection, AI knows what it’s doing wrong, yet it keeps doing it wrong again and again.

Proof that AI has already gotten very human, indeed!

green is army or nature like. That is not sporty. I was thinking of a purple race car. Also in race games, I make my cars half black half purple with a gradient. Though I won’t do a gradient like that on the unicycle.

There’s green and there’s GREEN

true and tastes differ

Oh I tried adding that by asking for corrections but it makes basically no difference, so there is no point even trying any further.

Well it has tan coloured sidewalls, so I asked for tan coloured sidewalls. :person_shrugging:

I wouldn’t even know what to call the side of the tire. The AI is smarter than me.

I was listening to Beethoven and then was wondering how he would look on an EUC with a brook in the background and a red sky :

I don’t think that back in his time they even had pedals, and would dance on top of the wheel. He is very focused on his wheelwalk.

Which AI did you use?

It is free, which is clear from the incomplete database behind it. It doesn’t recognise “tin whistle”, “bulldozer”, “unicycle”, “roller skates”. Or maybe separately it will, but combined in a sentence it goes all haywire.

I don’t want to pay for an AI image generator when I don’t really need one and since they nowadays really aren’t that good yet.

They probably use Stable Diffusion
It’s open source, but way behind closed sources AIs like chatGPT or Midjourney, quality-wise.

The mistake here is that you selected Beethoven, when clearly it should be Vivaldi†

† If you Google “Vivaldi unicycle” you get more relevant information than if you google “Beethoven unicycle”.
