what sould i do with these 102's

[subject Miyata 102mm cranks]

when i sold my 29er,i sold them to a rider that had his own cranks to use.

now i’ve got these baby 4 inchers and what sould i put them on?

You could build a 20" speed machine.

102mm cranks

i wonder if anyone has ever used cranks that short for a freestyle uni?

on the uni.com.uk site you can get 90mm cranks!!

I can’t wait until I can start riding again. I’ve gotten to the point where I have my trials/muni taken care of. Time for a 28/29, a giraffe, and then other stuff to F around on.

look at all the uni’z i’ve eFFed around on,Muni,Coker,29er.and now i’m on a trials uni?. you and i sould have traded around uni’z a long time ago.

would’nt it be cool to have a uni.5 style box just circleling the country all the time?with various uni’z lurking inside?it would get stolen some day though… :sunglasses:

I think the unicycle community is so close knit that it wouldn’t get stolen. We know that all the people on the uni.5 list are trustworthy. It would be cool to swap unis around with people so you could try something out before buying it.

its really a great idea, even better than the internet. :astonished: communication and a really good feel of material on delivery is awesome.

maybe not stolen but i can see the box itself getting so heavy that "6-pack"laziness would slow the thing down too the pawn shop  never to be seen again…

P.S.i’m hittin the chat room!

I think Christian Hoverath a German free style demon and hockey player
uses 102mms, I tried them out at Darmstadt and they were a lovley smoth
ride. I’ve been meaning to put a pair on my hockey uni to try them, but
havn’t done yet.

I would think that NAUCC and UNICON are excellent opportunities to try
all sorts of stuff, with expert advice at hand.

Now, now, Mr. Jagur- let us not get carried away! Although I love to see the excitement and determination of youth, a rush to judgement of this scope could have long-term consequences -a fact my Tipper reminds me of daily.

yea,it would be the place to see diversity in unicycles but i aint going.

Put them on a chain or string and use them for a great, cool necklace.

The 2000 Men’s Individual Freestyle world champion Kazuhiro Shimoyoza
(Japan) used 89mm cranks. He sure knew what to do with them!

Actually I might be able to use them myself.

His last name is Shimoyama. It says so (in Japanese) on the video you showed
me in June.

i have heard about the 89mm cranks, and i almost got those instead but i read that they dont have any treads for a crank puller so i went with the 102’s.

Actually jagur, if you still have these cranks I might like to give them a spin. My 20" Semcycle XL came in yesterday and I’m getting ready to throw it together. I ordered it with some 110s, but some 102s might be cool to try.

with 102mm cranks it sure would make spanking trial’ hard, but at least they would’nt bend. (Maybe. )

I use 102 mm cranks on my freestyle uni. Makes it a smoother ride and you’re less likely to have the pedal hit the ground.

That’s exactly what happened to Ben during his freestyle routine at UNICON. He was using 5" cranks, standard on the Torker, and was riding into a pirouette when a pedal tip hit the floor and bucked him off. We’ve since acquired 114 mm cranks and are trying them out. Eventually we want to move to 110s and then try 102s. Andy Cotter mentioned that most of the precise Japanese girls at UNICON use 102s.

So, if you do have an extra set of 102s, we’d love to try them out on the boy’s unis.
