There is another thread about odd/strange things people have eaten. That made me think about some things that I have found in food, things that should not have been there.
So, other than the occasional hair, what kind of bad stuff have you found in your food that you wished had not been there?
Three things I can think of:
a wire twist tie in some meatloaf
a used band aid (do not remember what it was in)
a piece of paper baked into some cornbread
The first 2 items were from the dining hall at summer camp when I was a kid. The third item was in a restaurant several years ago.
A copper staple, the kind for closing cardboard boxes, in a Whopper at Burger King. The “management” there at the time didn’t seem to grasp the situation correctly:
Me: “Look what I found in my Whopper!”
A. Mgr: “Was it in the meat or in the sandwich?”
Me: “What possible difference does that make to me, the customer?”
A. Mgr: “Because if it was in the meat it’s not our fault.”
Me: “Uh huh. Do you buy your meat from McDonald’s or something? You still served it to me…”
Anyway they offered me a fresh hamburger, which of course seemed very appetizing at the time, but the end result was me never returning to that particular Burger King.
I’ve also gotten lots of examples of unidentified nodules of inedible material in other fast food burgers, most notably from McDonald’s. But I figure most of it legally counts as “100% beef”. There’s a lot of bits of a cow that I wouldn’t eat on purpose…
I found a $2 coin in an unopened bottle of Fanta once. My mum wrote to coca-cola and they sent us a big pallet of free coke. But we moved soon after the incident and so the people moving into our house (family friends) got the delivery of coke
Today, a man came into my store with two plastic bags, one contained a half eaten sandwich and the other held an empty can of salmon. Apparently he had bitten into his salmon sandwich and was cut by a piece of glass, which he removed and presented to us with his story. We investigated it, and apparently the ‘glass’ turned out to be a calcium build-up that occurs naturally in the fish, and it will dissolve in your mouth/stomach. He was dumbfounded to say the least. We treated him to lunch on the house for his trouble.
I keep finding pebbles in my rice, but this one time I found a worm in my tetra packed mango juice. although some of u may argue that, worms are edible, i dont think so
