Video of your latest ride

Yes, and no.

Usually when using clipless pedals, you chose really slightly tightenned SH-SM56 cleats, which are extremely easy to remove from the pedals. I have never had any issue using it, even though I had quite a lot of impressive UPDs and falls (I also use clipless on muni).

And yes, you don’t want to fall at this kind of speeds. I think it happenned to me twice. The first one was during my post unicon trip in the USA, and it didn’t lead to huge injuries (just scratched skin on my knees). The second one happenned six months ago, on my daily commuting to work, and I had a partially torn PCL.

However, a good cleat choice is really important. A few weeks ago, I had changed my shoes and cleats for SH-SM51 (which are basically the same as the 56, but harder to remove from the pedals). And when my hub decided to go freewheeling (due to a loose bearing cage), I slammed into the groud with my face and opened my brow pretty badly (didn’t need suture though).

That is one hectic hamster powering that wheel.

Please please please please remove loose clothing when using an angle grinder. Watching the fabrication of those short cranks set me on edge at 54-56seconds seeing the loose shirt when using the angle grinder to smooth out the welds. Bad things do happen faster than you can react if that shirt gets caught. Stay safe out there.

Easter 100km is still on? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: :moai::goat:

It turns out i will only be able to bring the 19", so that might make it fair and it would be fun to get a faster average speed than last time.

Looks like you‘re trying hard not to put any pressure on PedalSprell :rofl:f-spin:

where do you get such cool handbars?
I only had 1 snow ride I think and that landed me in a UPD because of a hidden patch of ice under the snow.

Those are cheap Ali Express bike parts - see the “post your homemade handlebars here!” thread for lots of ideas…

A studded tire really makes a difference. On my 29er I had a Schwalbe Marathon Winter, last winter. It did its job fine and I didn‘t feel a significantly increased rolling resistance, to my surprise.
I wouldn’t ride on uneven icy terrain, but on roads and sidewalks it‘s really nice.

I have a bike path going through the forest with some elevation near here. Generally I think the muni wheel gives enough grip.

I have steadily been improving my freewheel riding. At a point I can record while riding.

That’s great! I was only a couple of hours into my training before I got too much speed on a small hill and rolled my ankle. I won’t be back in action until I get I get the proper frame for mounting a brake just in case.

I fractured my ankle in November from freewheeling. Best to stay safe and not require an extended recovery.

Nothing fancy. Just a little snippet from my last ride in lovely spring weather.

Felt a little bit like Kis Holm going down this single tack but when I saw the video all I saw was an old man wheelin along a forest path at a modest pace.
It could have been worse, it could have looked difficult too… :scream:

Could not upload video… it is .mov but the mp4 conversion was 64 mB…
Skipped the video converter app I bought in AppStore for a free online conversion service. Now file is only 7.4 MB…

Here is the video Sean put together on my April visit to Texas with both freestyle in New Braunfels and muni on the Madrone Trail at Canyon Lake: https://m.youtube.com/shorts/LYrEsfMgtkc

It’s so nice.

I tried to ride 1 footed seat on side and the inner foot resting on the frame. After all, without success. Impressive to see someone doing it even with foot in the air/without resting on the frame.

who made the video? a drone?
