Unicycle riding on the beach in the morning. I have to ride along the path trace made by ATV because it’s too hard for me to ride on a loose beach.
Ok technically I am breaking the rules here because I am not on a unicycle (I am on the penny farthing) but since my friend Hrafn is on his 36er, I am hoping you will let it slide.
Just two ordinary guys out for a ride around town.
How to make a 36er wheel look small! Must be quite scary up there sometimes - and of course I could be talking about either cycle, so I’m technically not breaking the rules either
Not scary for me on the 36er or my 54er but both were scary when I first got them.
Nice ride.
Today’s ride was a combo of Road and Muni on my 24". I hit this rock roll for the first time and again!

Looks like a fun trail, do you mind me saying your unicycle makes some strange noises ?
The unicycler‘s equivalent to a bear bell
@Adrianvdr, that looks like some seriously steep terrain!
Yes, lol. I know. The right side bearing squeaks. The spokes squeak. It’s done that for a long time. The spoke tensions are good, caps are tight (but not too tight), and I replaced the bearings not that long ago. I think the shaft diameter may be a little on the high side on the right as it takes quite a bit more effort to install than the left. Interestingly, when riding in the wet not that long ago, the squeaking went away entirely.
Sounds like the bearing could use some lubrication
My first time riding G36 Flansberrium 4130 Chromoly steel frame & Schlumpf 2022 125mm bearing centre, 36 spoke hole, non Freewheel hub.
I also posted this video in Schlumpf learning journal. Apologies, but I am so happy with being able to ride. I thought it would take months.
By end of the morning I rode 6km in high gear with 127mm crank setting.
Super cool.
Looks like you’re floating.
@Eman Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join in on the conversation! I hope you enjoy the forum.
Hi Eman,
Welcome to the forum.
Re:G36 it feels like I’m floating.
It is a really nice feeling.
Controlling the “invisible” force generated by the wheel in high gear is thrilling and a bit scary…but so satisfying to control.
I’m just learning to ride a 36” which is a step up from my 32”. It is so much more fun with less effort due to the rolling mass.
My next step will probably be to add the gear hub but not till I get better on the regular 36.
Would you recommend the G36? Is it just even better?

I feel the high gear on the G36 is like the top gear of my car, which only suits Freeway driving…Fun (and a bit scary). Any other time, 1:1 gear with 110mm cranks is the best alround setup for me.
After a week riding the G36 in high gear, I managed to get 30km/hr. For the best Strava segment (270m) I averaged 29.2km/hr and had a top speed of 32.7 km/hr.
My week riding in high gear consisted of 9 rides at about 2.5km each.
My background:
I rode my KH36 for 2 1/2 years and became comfortable with 110mm cranks. I have covered 7300km commuting to work. Recently I have managed to ride a freewheel with brakes on only.
My short video of getting 30km/hr.
Hello,
Impressive speed you are able to now achieve with the G36.
I’ve seen your other videos how you like to also climb on your 29”.
I started 8 years ago and am now 55yrs old.
You have motivated me to improve on my recently acquired Nimbus Oracle 36.
I just went for a climb approx 15 degree slope using 150mm cracks.
I’m not proficient yet with 125mm but fairly confident on my 32” and 125mm cranks.
Keep up the great videos.
