Total cost was $78.60 for me, for a small/short bar shipped to the USA.
It goes for the shipping and the bar. Itās not so expensive.
That is very reasonable with shipping.
Decided to give it a try, I ordered a short one for myself. Orering was interesting, since I donāt know any German. Google translate worked fairly well except for some of the drop down choices⦠took a bit to figure out United States is āVereinigte Staatenā ![]()
Was also wondering what the .li domain was: Lichtenstein! Learned a few things!
Looking forward to trying out the bar and see if it helps with the learning and controlā¦
Thanks!!!
Is it nor possible to change the language to english for the website? I will check that, what we can do.
And yes it is Liechtenstein which ist the most beautiful country in the world (160 square kilometers) ![]()
Yeah I didnāt see a way to change the language. I was browsing from an Android phone so Iām not sure if that makes a difference versus the full desktop computer experience. But Google Translate automatically translated almost everything on the pages, except for the country drop down. I looked for something USA-sounding for a while, then just translated united states of america and united states to German in another window and realized why I didnāt find it the first time. I just considered it an āinternational experienceā ![]()
I also spent some time on Wikipedia learning about Liechtenstein too LOL. I donāt think anybody will be very successful in arguing with you about it being a beautiful country, especially with all the photo and video evidence youāve posted!
Thatās actually one of my favorite Parts about this forum is how thereās so many people from all over the world on here that share things you would probably never see or hear about if it wasnāt for being a member here.
I didnāt either when I ordered one. Google Translate worked, but wasnāt ideal haha. Either way my experience was good ![]()
Hi everyone and happy new year!
I finally tested the prototype of the XL ursli-bar prototype for roadriding. It works great with the fiberglass saddlebase (it has to much flex with a normal saddle). For me it could be even a bit longerā¦
Woah that is neat. HUGE.
My short Ursli bar came in⦠shipped 12/21 (4 days before Christmas!), arrived in Seattle area on 1/5 via USPS, not too bad if anyone is wondering about shipping time to the US.
The ends around the bolt holes are filled with some kind of filler, Bondo maybe? Anyways that explains why you wonāt have any problems with the bar smashing down by [over] tightening the mounting bolts and it also seems like it would significantly strengthen the bar against kinking near its highest stress point.
Test fitting it, it felt very solid. I think it will work great.
Iām not sure how I want to wrap it yet I was thinking about putting mountain bike grips where the brake is kind of like @turtle did above, but was trying to think of ideas to protect the front of the bar against hitting pavement, rocks, and mud.
Has anybody tried putting 7/8 heater hose on the tip of the bar? Seems like it would be way more durable than grip tape although not sure if it will be easy to slide up and around the bar to the front.
hi, the filler are wooden.
I got the best result with leather handlebar tape, which is lined with some foam in the curve.
Colleagues from Germany have taken cooling tubes, a bit difficult to assemble, but super stable.
I wrapped mine first with this:

Followed by a layer of this:

I have no complaints. Have used it for many miles and trails at this point.
Does it resist to UPDās abrasion?
Awesome thanks for the suggestions @anon727874 anf @turtle ā¦
I had been considering this stuff I didnāt think about wrapping something else underneath of it (thatās a good idea) and I wasnāt sure if the suede would be a problem after falling in mud and or how it would stand up to upds on pavement.
Hmmā¦
Well the auto parts store is just down the road so maybe I bring the bar in and see if it seems feasible to slide heater hose over the end . If it works, add some mtb grips closer to the saddle, and if not, just order the stuff and wait for it to show up to do what you suggested Ryan.
If this is a question to my post - yeah for the most part. Obviously itās going to require some maintenance from time to time. I havenāt had to do any yet, though.
On the plus side when you order bike wrap you do get twice as much as you need, if not more. I did forget to mention that I had a very minor third layer of medical tape. I think I added that because itās easy to split that handle bar tape with one fell UPD chop. Just where it hits the ground the hardest.
Anyways, I have had no issue with the handle, grip, denting, or any of that.
For a handle protector I picked up some BMX grips from a local bike shop
Forgive the image, im posting a new uni photo in another thread in a sec
The foam that came with the quax handle broke on the first upd and started scratching the bar and this one has held up pretty well. I was debating bar tape but if it breaks it will unravel so 2 sets so I have upp and lower room but even one would do the job.
Great suggestions from others as well but these are thick, made to be durable, and comfy even after falling a bunch with a wide range of colours available.
Yep I used that solution for my homemade handle during summer and fall of 2022. Very durable and lots of options in terms of both texture and color.
Well I didnāt get a chance to get to the auto store so I just ordered the stuff online I ended up getting that self fusing silicone tape you mentioned above Ryan as a pre-wrap (great suggestion btw, i think it helps with padding, adhesion of the top tape, and probably to ease future removal) followed by the below:
MARQUE Suede Bike Handlebar Tape - Road Cycling Bicycle Handle Bar Wrap for Drop Bars with End Plugs - 2PCS per Set Amazon.com
Itās not a good time of the year to paint and I didnāt like the silver bar ends against all the black, so I improvised using a black permanent marker for now.
Iām happy with the appearance, it feels great --not sure about the durability yet-- but as Ryan says, I have enough to do it a 2nd time when this one needs replacement.
Heck yeah!!! I hope you dig it as much as I do.
Thanks for all the pics and feeback!
We still want more feedback about the U(rsli)-bar and also pis of your setups.
We could send the U(rsli)-bar already in 15 different countries and it would be nice to see where they ended ![]()
