unicycledotcom, losing it's touch

This is basically a rant, I’m just frustrated. Here we go:
For Christmas, my parents got me the 661 ankle braces, because I keep poking holes in my ankles from the KH20 cranks. Only one came. We e-mailed them and they sent a new one. That was the beginning.
My friend Brian got an Onza Trials Uni for Christmas. They sent him an Onza Mountain unicycle. He sent it back, waited another week, and it finally came. It came with a broken crank arm. He sent it back again, and this time they got it right. Also sent it with a free T-Shirt, because they messed up so many times. At least they’re nice about fixing their many mistakes.
Now, I ordered UNiVERsE. After a week of intense suspense (RHYME), it finally came. I open the box, and the tape is broken. EEAARRGGHH
I’ve heard that unicycledotcom is supposed to be a really good company. It doesn’t look like they are. Maybe I’ve just had bad luck.

i hear that

i ordered an onza trials uni about 2 months ago and it never got it. When i phoned them in november they said they had no order of one , i knew they did because i had already been waiting for two weeks.!
After a week of searching they email me and tell me they found my order at the bottom of some pile !!! grrrrrrr

so they tell me its going to be sent and should be here in 2 weeks. 2 weeks go by and still no onza, so i email them and they tell me they had sent my uni to someone else and that they are out of stock till march. Now im pissed off. Its now the end of december and they call me up and tell me some one sent one back so ill be getting one soon. Its now Jan and STILL NO FRIGGEN ONZA!!! I talk to them today and they said they have one but its gunna come with KH cranks ( and i ordered the onza because i wanted that style of cranks).

Im never ordering from unicycle.com again, BEDFORD ALL THE WAY!

a very pissed off customer.

I think u guyses must be really unlucky or i must be really lucky. i have made about 6 orders from them in the past few years and none have been late, damaged, lost, or anything of the sort. However i would say that bedford is much much better if you live anywhere in northern USA or canada.

I shop at Unicycle.Uk.Com (enough said :p)

No, really… roger and the team are great!

Joe,

the uk team really is great. i don’t know about the rest of the world but i’ve never had a late, broken or wrong order delivered to me. i’ve ordered about 4 or 5 things and got them all happily:D
that goes for some of my mates as well, all their orders fine!

iain

did anyone stop to think that maybe its the postal service thats breaking all your stuff? i mean first of all, why would they send something broken? thats dumb cause they know theyd get a complaint. so just think about it and dont blame it on them. and if youre so pissed, how about we just get rid of unicycle.com and see how well our sport makes out. i know yuore probably mad about it, but its not their fault. so calm down and go start your own unicycle company if you think you can be that much better. i personnally have no complaints about either unicycle.com or bedford. ive had great service from both.

good luck with it,
Kevin!

yeah down with the postal service i am with kevin why send something thats broken???
uni.uk all the way!!!

Has anyone noticed you can only recieve stuff from UPS or FedEX from uni.com. Its probably FedEX thats bad because my dad sends about 3 packages a week out and receives about the same with UPS every week for the past 4 years or so and i have yet to see him get in a tuf because UPS damaged his stuff. but i have seen fed ex mangle things sent from my grandfather a few christmases ago. UPS is a good service and so is Uni.com. Be happy that you can actually get this stuff commercially and cheap instaed of whining about problems from unknown sources.

That was probably the Onza trials I ordered that came with only 1
crank. Yes, that’s right, 1 crank. How do you sell a brand new uni
with only 1 crank? Am I missing a leg??? Instead of returning it I
agreed to let them send me a new crank, only to find it was the wrong
one. I sent the whole thing back and they returned it to me with a KH
setup. I unpacked the uni, got on it and stood up to adjust my nuts.
My luck as it was, one of the cranks broke. Not only did it break but
it also twisted the splines on the axle. I only weigh 150 lbs!! I
packed the whole thing up, sent it back and told them to go @#$#
themselves!

My brother and two other friends had similar problems with wrong
shipments and defective gear. None of them will order from
unicycle.com again and to tell you the truth, neither will I!! That
place must be run by clowns.

i have had a couple mess-ups from uni.com but they were always happy to fix it for me. their problem is that they stock a lot of crap. most unicycling equiptment is made for performing and what not so when i get pissed because i bend a cotterless crank on a 2 foot drop into sand i get upset, then think, oh yeah, these were 12 bucks and are not made for trials. rather than priding themselves in stocking the most unicycling equiptment, their goal should be the best. i do not mean most expensice or best quality, but good cheap unicycles, good average priced unis, and good expensive unis. same with the parts. and they should be better about saying “this sucks for trials or muni!”

They do give all their equipment a positive spin, but let’s face it: I doubt their consumer base is all hardcore riders and guys who like to do 10 ft drops. They sell a lot of stuff to casual riders. If you buy $12 cranks, they will work great for learning how to ride basic freestyle; don’t expect anything else out of them. You get what you pay for. Here’s a pretty good way to figure out how high of quality something is. If it’s expensive, it’s quality. If it’s cheap, it’s crap. I realize that there are exceptions to this rule, but if you want something that will last, buy something more expensive.
I’m glad that they stock a little of everything. Unicycling is such a specialized market that they can’t just custom tailor to the higher-end riders. They need to remember the little guys who can’t afford quality but don’t need it either.

Re: Re: unicycledotcom, losing it’s touch

According to Tugboat that was the postal service’s fault. Must have been them who also pre-stripped the KH seat bolts on my first order from uni.com. Awfully nice of them to replace the seat that was damaged by the post office. Now like tugboat said just live with everyones mistakes and deal. (yeah right).

matt

i’ve ordered my framen seat and bearings and no probelms i’m a happy shopper

So far, all of my experiences with unicycle.com have been amazing. My first purchase was a KH20. It came in about 3 days and nothign wrong with it. A day or two after I got it, I received a call from unicycle.com, wondering how I liked it and gave me tips on trials techniques. At Snowshoe, in West Virginia, I broke my main cap. It was a bad weld(or at least we think it was, it broke right on the weld). We called unicycle.com and they replaced it for free. It came after a couple days. Many times I have emailed them asking questions, they always responded that day or the day after, with answers in incredible depth. They never tried to convince me to buy the more expensive thing, just told me pros and cons of each.

You can’t complain about them selling weak parts. Many people use them for performing, which puts little stress on the parts. Its really your fault for not realizing that the cheapest version of a part is most likely a lot weaker.

Those of you who have lots of problems with unicycle.com, how far away from them do you live? If you live far away, that gives more opportunities for your order to be damaged on the way.

OR maybe unicycle.com is out to get everyone. They purposely break stuff and send it to people hoping that they dont notice and their ultimate goal is to kill off all of the unicyclists so that they can be the best.

john

i didnt mean to say that they should only sell harcore stuff, just that they should really tell you what you can expect to do on a certain uni or part. they should put more of the stuff in the beginner series too. i love uni.com and truly appreciate their business. hell, john drummond donated some items to the NJ muni weekend and i got the curious george unicycling monkey. whats better than that?

in conclusion, while unicycle.com rocks, they should give the more advanced riders a little warning when getting parts. i like to try different parts just to improve my own knowlege and when a part breaks in less than one hour of riding soft muni (united crank arms, real story) its kinda disappointing.

What would be great is separate sections for trials and muni, and having what parts are good for those styles of riding. They could decide what to put in these categories from customer feedback and/or Sofa’s review site.(is that still around?) All I’m saying is that would be nice, but I don’t expect them to go to the trouble of doing that. People should just ask or find a post about a product they are looking at. I’m sure that with all of the members on this site and the smallish range of unicycle products, somebody has tried them.

john

It is, just very few people have bothered to use it :frowning:

awww, it was such a good idea though.

john

maybe you should make the link colorful

the bandwagon won’t be around for long, better get on quick

i reviewed everything i owned as soon as the site came online and then realized i was the only one… i felt embarrased… :o
