Still think titanium is the bestest thing in the world? And yes i used wrong english on purpose.
This happened on a ~1m prehop. Prehoped and then bam fell, wondered what happened noticed I had no pedal, took me about 20 seconds to find it in the dark ehehe.
Anyone else break a Ti axle?
Anyways off I am to find another axle for my otherwise rather happy right MG1
Ti is not as surly as cromo in that application. Pedal axles are made to be stiff, and Ti has to be made more brittle in order to get stiff enough for that purpose. Whine all you want, that part takes alot of stress from trials. Use cromo!
There was no real point in the post to be honest… it was just for information.
And i know crmo axles are stronger, but the ‘very’ slight point of the post was to educate people to the fact titanium doesnt magically make everything strong.
The only people who have ever argued Titanium is stronger are people who have broken a lot of Aluminum stuff. Titanium is stronger and heavier than Aluminum, but lighter and weaker than steel. This is pretty well known, and for real weight weenies it’s a compromise they are willing to make.
