The worlds best unicycle seat

is there a expected price?

I was just kiddin’, I know you have a real life, so whenever you feel like making them.

All told, including set up and clean up, how long does it take you to make one seat base?

Hi, for just a base it’s $160 NZD, cheers.

Hi, if it is just the base I would say 4 hours in total. Cheers.

The price is not to bad! ill get one as soon as i can.

That’s great, what about shipping to the US. Anyone want to go in on a few? We can ship them to one central location the out from there, this may cut some of the NZ to US shipping costs.

When do you think you can make a few? I might be in for 1 or 2

That’s about $197 USD.

$129.86 as of today.

Haha, yeah, I reversed the amount in the USD to NZ calculator!

Does the base come pre-drilled, with threaded inserts like the SW base?

I’ll volunteer if no one else wants to be the point man. I would just need to have confirmed buyers before they ship, sorta like I did for my bar end mounts.

No rush Pete, when you are ready to make a few, just let us know.

Since most of us have a seat already, and since it this project would require some cannabalizing of a donor seat, it would probably be more straight forward to only deal with selling bases…

Nurse Ben - I am definitely down for one. Thanks for offering to be the US distributor.

Hi,
I move into my new house on the 6th of December, so once I get the workshop sorted out we are back into it

I sent one to Canada and that cost $16.00 NZD so I would say the US would be the same.

A good friend of mine who is the current flatland champ in NZ has tried my MUni flatfish and is very keen to try for flatland and trials as he said the lower handle position, lower rear bumper and no curve are all advantanges, I will let you know how that goes.

Cheers.

Hi, the base comes not drilled and no inserts. The seat post holes are marked for a KH adjustable angle seat post but not drilled.
The reason for this is there are quite a few combinations of hardware and positions, and as the hardware will be coming from another seat it is impossible for me to set up for all possibilities. You will find the seat needs to be setup at an angle as per my earlier photos, that seems to be a common position so far, again, this may vary with different peoples preferences. I hope this helps.

Keep me posted, I’m in for 1, maybe 2, muni layup

I’ll be using this seat for the 160km Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge on Saturday.

It will be the first time I’ve used it on a high geared unicycle with a extension bar.

Will let you those following thread how it goes. It feels great just riding around the block- heaps more leverage and no wedgie sensation.

Hi, we are back in business building seat bases.

I have been building Muni bases which weigh approx 240 grams and are very stiff, one person is using a lighter layup with a KH T-bar and no stiffening plate with no flex so this new layup will take a T-bar with ease

If you would like a Flatfish NNC base or if you have any questions, please email me at peter@gilbarr.com

I hope you all have a very uni Christmas

I am pretty skint at the moment with my 36" Triton build but I am keen to try one in the next month or so. What is the cost of one and shipping to the UK?

Part of me hopes I don’t like it as I would then have to replace all my Impact Naomi seats :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers

Do you think this seat would be good for trials?

I’m getting three bases for my Unis.

The Naomi was my favourite seat, but I went back to it the other day just to see if I would notice. It was only a short ride, but the biggest thing was the lack of leverage. It felt like my arms were all cramped in and had no room to move.

I don’t ride trials, but I think it would be perfect for the reason above (ie greater leverage). Also, not sure if having no curve means it doesn’t get in your way (I think that might be more useful for street/flatland if people are doing unispins or seat out tricks).

Hmmmm
