The "Dark Knight"!

I am sitting in the very building the post production for IMAX audio was done for The Dark Night.

To be more specific, I think it was just the IMAX versioning that was done here.

I am sitting on the very site where the first commercially available Fruit Salad Mix was canned.

To be more specific, my office is built on the site of the former Libby Canning Factory.

What now, punk?

Saw it today in IMAX at noon and the theater was PACKED! I was awestruck at the opening scenes in FULL IMAX splender! Te acting, chatacters, story, writing, directing-all top notch. It’s no wonder so many people are chomping at the bit to see it again…and again!

My only critique would be the casting of Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes. I’d never even heard of here before this film, and she just looked haggard and old in the movie; a dead fish. Sorry, but imo she was not anywhere near as attractive as Batman and Harvey Dent seemed to think. I found her boring and not pretty at all. Otherwise it was a fantastic film, and I’d see it again.

Completely agreed. I think Jake Gyllenhaal is much better looking. :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously, she was not at all attractive in this movie…it was really disappointing.

I’m wondering if her casting was because she knew the producer/director, whatever. Bad casting choice, but at least I didn’t feel bad when…I won’t say.:o You’ll just have to go see it it.

Ironman was a way better movie.[/quoe]Jacquie and I agree. We haven’t seen the (new) Hulk yet.

Jacquie was dying. She doesn’t have much patience for long movies, and I agree this one could have lost a few scenes with no ill effects.

Yes! So we’re not the only ones! Save that voice for the very short conversations you have with flunkie bad guys. You had way too many lines in this movie to keep it up. Christian Bale probably had a sore throat the whole time. And why can’t he use his Bruce Wayne voice? It worked for Adam West and all the others…

Batman Begins was much better. It required a much smaller amount of suspension of disbelief to buy the majority of the action. Not so this movie. There was a helicopter crash that didn’t look realistic (how come movies can never get helicopters right?). There was a tractor trailer rig flipped over. What would make the trailer flip with the tractor? And the “Bat Cycle” looked unrideable and did some impossible moves also. I won’t even say anything about where the bike came from…

The rest of it was very good, just not as good as the previous movie; scary Joker, good/evil Dent, excellent Gordon, Fox and Alfred. The Rachel character was disappointing in that they had to go with a different actress, but note to Terry: Maybe Bruce and Harvey saw more in her than her outside appearance? That said, she did look tired.

That’s good acting…her character IS tired. Balancing very high pressure legal career and conflict in emotional relationships with two of the three or four wierdest guys on the planet? It ages a girl.

To Terry: Give me a break. Maggie doesn’t need to sleep with a casting agent to get a decent role. As you said, you’d never even heard of her before this film. Correct that.

thank gawd it wasnt Katie (the sad turtle) Homes/Cruz anymore. She is the worst actress ever and funny you dont think she “knew the producer/director” of Batman Begins.

ILM…

She was the best in “Secretary”.

Hey now, she was great on Dawson’s Creek hah. Scientology aside, I find her very attractive.

My only beef with the movie is…

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT:

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT:

Why did they kill two face? It seemed as though they were building up his character for the next movie. I was really hoping to see more of him as a villain, it really is a shame.

First, go back and read my post! I never said anything about “Sleeping” with anybody. I said maybe she “KNEW” the producer or whatever. Nepotism runs rampant in Hollywood.

And as far as her character being “tired” that’s no excuse for looking bad. It’s a MOVIE, so at least give us a hot looking female lead that would at justify the attraction from the male leads. I’m sure the “Lara Croft: Tomb raider” character is “tired” after fighting off monsters and bad guys in those mvies, but at least Angelina Jolie looks damn HOT doing it!

And I’m not sure what you were trying to get across with that link; I’d already been there, but still, I was not familiar with that actress before the “Dark Knight”. Maybe I’ve seen here in previous films, but that just goes to show just how forgetful she is.

Oh, and you spelled “weirdest” incorrectly. Just trying to save you from the wrath of Miss Ayelery!

I’m glad they did. He was a little one-sided. Coin comes up the wrong way? Flip again. This is his idea of “fair”? Plus how come he speaks with a normal voice with half his face missing? He would have a nasty speech impediment. Why can’t an evil villain have a speech impediment? If he used a “Batman voice” he would still sound evil and not stupid.

But his character had to die for the whole “hero/martyr” thing they did with DA Dent. Thanks for the extra five minutes of explaining what Dark Knight means; I already knew before I walked into the theater. I hope all the kiddies get it now…

BTW I like how Gotham City gets to be Chicago this time, instead of always New York. Superman’s got New York. Sure, they’re both fictitious cities but you gotta film somewhere. They even made the “Gotham” license plates look like Illinois plates, so regular Illinois plates wouldn’t contrast with the movie ones. I acknowledge that some shots were filmed in NYC and/or other cities as well.

That’s another thing I didn’t like.
The ‘normalisation’ of Gotham.
Gotham is meant to be, well, gothic.
I like my buildings with arches and as many flying butresses as possible.
I remember watching the two Tim Burton movies and gasping with delight at Anton Furst’s city design.
Not a gargoyle in sight in this one.
Bah.

Apparently there a LOTS of people who agree with me that the actress who played Rachel, Maggie Gyllenhaal, was the definite low point of the movie. Terrible casting choice. http://www.askmen.com/women/actress_250/289_maggie_gyllenhaal.html/posts/901289/1

There was a real Illinois license plate on Bruce Wayne’s Lamborghini. I spotted it( in the movie) as they showed a camera angle looking at the back of the car while he was driving down the street…

I just saw it earlier today.

It was pretty good.

She was pretty hot to me, she had a nice body. I mean, I’d tap that boi.

I really liked the movie. The joker was my favourite character. And I also agree about rachel not really being hot. Other then that I thought it was awesome and I really enjoyed it.

She wasn’t a boy…but she was still fairly unattractive.
