If you lived in the UK I would GIVE you my 36 Nightrider and throw in a Nimbus 26. However, you don’t live in UK…do you :p:p
Sadly I don’t I’ll pay shipping :o
Lol re shipping - but according to your avatar you do have a smart car that means we have something in common I owned the Brabus cabriolet that went like “sh*t off a shovel”
How much to ship the Knightrider to USA?
I don’t have a smart car I found it fun I could touch each end of one. I’ll look right now
After reading as many old threads as I could find on putting brakes on old Cokers, I got busy today and installed an old BMX brake. I drilled a hole in the frame to mount the brake and improvised a bar for the brake handle from an old seat post by bending the bracket and attaching it to the front seat bolts on my existing seat. I’ll probably put an old bike handlebar on the old seat post bar or else coat it in liquid black tape so it doesn’t look so out of place next to the black seat and black brake handle.
Ironically, when I went on a ride tonight to test it, I was so scared of getting ejected that I never got the nerve to test it on the one downhill stretch that I rode.
My first Nightrider exploded. Sidewall blew out. This was a brand new tyre, and I had pumped it to 65 psi which was ridiculous since I was riding on gravel roads. I had ridden for an hour maybe when I left it in the sun and went to buy something to drink. And then after 1 or 2 minutes: BANG!
UDC Sweden replaced it free of charge.
After that I’ve never ran more than 50 psi.
That’s good to know, UniMyra. Thanks.
I used to love the Viscount seat. I had one on my first 36 and used to ride for an hour or more without a dismount. However, it was heavy and with no handle at the front it limits certain types of riding.
I got a Coker Pi Bar in the mail yesterday, so I took the Titan out for a 10K ride tonight to try the new handles. It feels top heavy with the bar until you get on, and then it’s great. Seems to add stability to the whole setup.
Not sure I love the break where it is, but it’s still usable and I don’t reach for it much.
I’m debating whether I will ever ride my 36er to work. I’ve only been working a week so I’m not quite ready to do it yet, but I’m thinking maybe later on this fall or next spring. Only problem is that the last 1/4 mile would be one of those close-your-eyes-and-hope-you-don’t-die sections of road.
Is it in the middle of downtown or something?
I’m pretty sure I won’t. Seventeen miles with some gnarly hills at the end. I’d be completely wiped out by the time I got there. (If I got there.)
No, it’s a 4 lane road with a turn lane and 55 mph speed limit.
Oohh, maybe you could take your 36er off road than.
There aren’t any other roads to get to this place. I may eventually just nut up and slog it down that road, perhaps on the left side against traffic so I don’t have to cut across 2 lanes to get into the turn lane.
Or you should learn to pedal fast enough to go 55mph
Maybe when I get a geared hub I’ll be able to. If it was downhill and I had a freewheel hub though…
Added some handlebars made from an old 20" frame. Going to need a lot more practice because nearly every time I leaned on the handle bars, I had a UPD, usually falling to the side. Judging from comments on several threads I read this morning, I think I was probably moving too abruptly to the handlebars and instead need to shift my weight more gradually. Although I’m sure most of my problem is that I’ve only been riding a 36" for three weeks.
