A few photos of my G36 taken yesterday. There’s still some fine-tuning to be done, but it’s already very nice like this
And a short video to see me in action :
Upgrades made:
- the KH fusion one saddle replaced by an ISM saddle
- the standard triathlon extender replaced by an “profil design ergo clip” (with spring-loaded elbow rests)
- thanks to this extender, I’ve been able to shorten the handlebars and use the handlebars under the elbow rests when they’re raised. The bar ends are closer and the position is more ergonomic (I don’t have broken wrists).
- And just recently, I switched to a TPU inner tube (97g!), which saves a few grams, but also affects wheel tension (and I think it improves tire fit on the rim). Incidentally, the tube change has shifted it slightly off-center, I’ll have to see.
The only weak point I find is the position of the brake lever. Anyway, with a poor-quality disc, it doesn’t make much difference.
I haven’t (yet) switched back to clipless road pedals. I’ve got SM-SH51 cleats with the springs tightened with 2 turns of allen key, and carbon XC shoes, but they make noise. I’m going to want to go back to clipless road pedals
It weighs 8.9 kg. It’s not really a factor for me, I use it mostly on the flat. And I’ve put on a few pounds this summer…
What I like most is the improved comfort. A few weeks ago, when I got back on my G36 after a year’s break, I found the old saddle very uncomfortable. I was afraid to switch to a bike saddle, but I’ve done it and I’m not going back. I’m already doing 1h30 rides without pain. I can’t wait to test myself on a longer ride.
