You did better than me today. I was on my 36er on the Baylands going against 30 mph headwind, heading 6 miles back. Pushing at full force at the speed of walking…i was contemplating of hopping off and walk instead as if it were faster, and yet painfully perservered like a blown seagull against ocean windgusts.
An experience and yet quite miserable, actually;)
Seeing that makes me think it’s worth while reminding people that it’s a god idea to try to head our from home into the wind so that on the return you have the wind behind you. So when you are tired and worn out you have the wind helping you somewhat at least.
Don’t know if it would have made a difference in UPD’s case today, but it is always a miserable experience slogging into a strong headwind. Been there, done that…
Cheers
James
I did a ride about a month ago, on my way out I was feeling GREAT! Felt really strong in the legs… I decided to make my ride 5 miles longer than I had planned… Big mistake. When I turned around I realized that I had a stiff wind at my back (the reason for feeling so strong), the ride home really sucked. I didn’t realized on my 1st half of the ride that there was no wind in my ears or on my face.
“Whoohoo gonna be breeze of a ride today”.—NOT!!!:D:D
I didnt realize how 36ers sucked pushing against the wind..oh well.
Rainstorm over today. Winds died down. Time to head out there again and enjoy the puddles;)
WiND Rule of Thumb.
When you feel a stiff one at your back..
..you know ya gonna be #uck*d.![]()
Headwinds always make me downshift my Schlumpf. A 36er is like a sail in the wind.
Today morning was awesome and insane ride!!!
And this one is 10 seconds delay selfie made with one single shot ![]()

Just got this yesterday. Had never even tried one until 5-10 min before the vid. My legs were burnt out from a long ride on my 26 earlier.
