Videos sorting is completed. Here is some screenshots to visually explain why it is worth the drive to Millstone Hill for funny features (from the trails Rollercoaster, Screaming Demon & Angry Gnome).
I love dark rides! Here’s a few pictures from last night. Rode round Clifton Park, which is a large country park round here with a lake in the middle. It’s one of those places where the ‘standard’ spot where everyone goes (IE. round the lake) is amazing enough, but there’s a whole extra chunk of land waiting to be explored, that’s rarely touched because it hasn’t got a pretty lake. Made for some great forest MUni ![]()
EDIT: Image host failing me, I’ll attach them the old-fashioned way…
Old railway bridge
Overlooking the railway track. I stood for a few minutes waiting to see if a train would come, gave up and rode off. Just as I got over the mudpile in the 3rd picture, I heard the engine come roaring past…
unlucky!
No clue what this tower is, but it was bloody huge so deserved a photo.
What appears to be a piece of a really big engine, amongst some other broken lumps of metal. Apparently a plane crashed here a LONG time ago, so I guess this is what remains.
Tried getting a brighter shot by turning my headlamp on.
Great photos!
Have you ridden Bradbury Mountain?
Ok, it isn’t really a mountain, so there is no downhill bliss, but it has a great reputation amongst mountain bikers. This is the best video I could find of the trails.
I have only ridden the easier of trails. It probably is not as nice as Barre, but it is certainly closer then Barre.
@Bri: +1 for vids from trails in the background mountains ![]()
@Piece Maker: nice pics! Looks like a fun discovery ride.
@Jigywigy: thanks for the info. I will do some research. It is clearly closer. Millstone isn’t that high (just a hill with an active quarry) and it is the wood features that make it fun. There is a lot more there than these three trails but they are located on the hill ![]()
3 pics from my ride today. This was Beasts first long ride (30ish miles) and it was brilliant! The weather has been wonderful too ![]()
First pic is next to a small river, at the bottom of 2 steep hills. I sat next to this river for a while, listening to it and thinking about life.
Second is a pic of some of the hills around here. I was pretty much standing out of my saddle to climb some of the steeper ones!
Last pic is in the same field as the second pic, but I noticed something in the sky (on the pic) and it doesn’t look like a plane! ![]()
Any believers here? ![]()
I believe that it’s a flying insect…lol:D
Aye, more than likely ![]()
Piece maker, I take it that’s not clifton Park in Rotherham? if it is then I think it’s time I revisited. ![]()

Galena Trail, New Denver, B.C. Canada

.
Thats super cool!
In our western world, it’s amazing that this sort of thing are still in use. It’s surprising that the “guys!!! is it safe???” brigade hasn’t petitioned to have it dismantled. ![]()
One thing had to lead to another…
I recently took up slacklining, which is proving to be quite fun and challenging.

Just as well that you weren’t carrying a 36er.
36er Muni is so Fun!!
I am having a blast riding the 36 off road. Getting better too, it seems easier than my 26er. Even when negotiating turns and rock gardens somehow I can ride it better than on the smaller wheel. ?
Inertia!! ![]()
Not surprised. I was shocked in the first few hours on my n00b 36er. Once the big wheel is rolling, it’s soooo stable. It wants to stay up. heh.
Nice pix! ![]()
Riding the hill climb race in the local high street where the Tour of Britain came through http://www.malvernhills.gov.uk/-/malvern-and-upton-ready-to-welcome-the-tour-of-britain
Great job Aracer,
Did you beat a few cyclists?
BTW those guys in the top picture don’t look very happy.
What were the reactions of the cycling people?
Greetings,
Tom
