Pictures of your latest ride

Hey KiwiRichard, can I suggest you resize your picture, it makes the thread take too long to open and only a small portion of the picture can be seen without scrolling up/down and left/right.

The one with the jet above? (Something tells me your kidding, lol.) But that was a very tricky pic to get. I had to hike up a very steep and slippery, routed embankment, just above the bike path, and get my 36er wedged in an upright position.

Then I went back down and more than 75 feet away and zoomed in. Then I waited for the jets to take off from LAX and come into view. Since you can’t hear them until they are well in view, I had to be ready as soon as I saw one come into view. If I waited even a spit second too long to press the shutter, they would be out of view, since it was zoomed about 3/4 of way in. It took several tries to get it.

And not all jets took off on the same flight line, so I had to pick one spot, hold the camera in place and wait, sometimes for minutes, and my arm got pretty tired!

I love that 36er beach pic. Now that’d make a great background!

Here’s another 36er/jet pic. Regular and solarized!

Burning off the Turkey on the Trails

Riding over Thanksgiving at Moon Lake mtb trails in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Nice trails, lots of rocks, fun time for me to try and keep up with my brother-in-law on a mtb.

Kidding isn’t what I had in mind… Perhaps slight exaggeration, but either way, I DID whip out the thesaurus! (the online one  ) BUT it was a cool picture, so nice job!

Thanks, I just thought you were kidding about the thesaurus.

Hey Terry, great pictures. Really like them!

Fastest women in the world in Aspen - on ski’s

The FIS Womens World Cup is in Aspen this weekend- GS yesterdy & Slalom today. It has been awesome to watch live, those ladies sure do ski fast. They also look awesome in their speed suits. It is a fun 36er snowy ride to get to the course. Here are a couple pics.
1st pic is from town looking up at World Cup course.
2nd pic is at bottom of course, check out the racer

1st pic is French winner yesterday in GS course
2nd pic is an example of terrain I ride to get there, this is part of a nordic trail that hooks into town

Latest flatland practice. The stills make me look much better than I am at it…by far, haha! (But it’s a start!) :o

big rain over the last few days, trails need some time to recover.

I planned to take more pictures - but the battery was empty :frowning:

It was a nice tour but this is the only boring picture. To compensate, I added a screenshot from google earth and the corresponding zipped kmz file.

Not a uni ride but my morning ride to work after first heavy snowfall this season… I hope it will keep so white till weekend so I can take my uni out in the snow.

Well, sombody has to ask. . . what’s your secret? Cable tie? Or did you just jump back, hopefully not kill yourself jumping back into the rocks, snap the shot, then let your poor uni fall to the detriment of those gorgeous bar ends?

Edit: Is that something red wedged in between the wheel and the frame?

It’s a spoke wrench. Its slight curved shape gives it just the right amount of tension, to fit between the tire and underside of frame, which “locks” the wheel in place. It allows the uni to stand on its own against a wall, post, rock, etc. Small, light and I carry it in my pocket for quick access.
