The Liverpool Loop Cycle Track

Surprised by the good weather - so set about exploring a cycle path that skirts around the borders of Liverpool. Created from an old railway cutting with numerous bridges as in the photo. Great fun to lighten up on the clothing!!

Went out on saturday morning, was great, went a bit off road at the top of the pennines, climbed about 700ft I reckon, plus about 700ft down as well, was a great ride just over 11 miles

Here we are minus me as I’m behind the camera at the highest point we got to

…and here I am

Local reserve near me, was out Geocaching. That tree is at the brink of a 60-70 degree drop of 40 feet into the river below! I almost didn’t turn in time because to this point it’s all rocky down hill

I’ll have to try thaton my unicycle. I’ll have to dig out my GPS, now the weather’s getting better, and then I have to work out how to use it!

Had an exploratory ride at a place called Lushington Hill, completely pillaged in the mid 1800’s gold rush. Still plenty of nasty mine shafts waiting to snack on unsuspecting MUni rider! :astonished:

Yes Terry… I very much enjoyed the ride. I would love to be the first to know if anybody has anything with a 36" wheel up for sale in the southern california area, cuz now I’ve GOT to have one!!! Thanks again Terry.

I just got a helmet cam and tried it out on some local MTB and multi-use trails. The video was a bit jumpy so I am not sure if I have the camera mounted firmly enough, but here are some frame grabs. The grim expression on my face in the me-shot was because I was breathing hard after an uphill section. I don’t really look that bad. No, honestly, I don’t… not most days anyways… well perhaps on a bad day.

what helmet cam did you use?

Contour HD 1080p

did you post on VholdR?

Nice frame-grabs Susan. Are there a lot of good trails and paths around North Bay?

Do you plan on making more videos like your “how to ride a unicycle” one with the new helmet-cam?

No, should I? What would I post? Do you mean to try and sort out the jumpy video issue?

Hey, how are you Phil? Ready to cross another continent?

There’s a variety of trails around here, and I am just now finding some of them. A lot of skidoo trails that turn into multi-use out of the skidoo season.

I have lots of ideas for videos, but struggle to cut out the time to do any. I thought the helmet cam would help me get some good footage for a “How to MUni” vid, but the wide angle lens seems to flatten out the landscape, and where I feel that I am heroically racing up and down dramatic landscapes, it shows me huffing and puffing along sedately, while people walking their dogs out-pace me. :o

Two rides today; MUni & coker. I found another (baby) gopher snake as it was slithering along in the middle of the trail, just moments before two mtbers flew by. Had a hiker hold it while I snapped a quick pic, then let it go deep into the brush. Coker pics taken with no tripod, with camera vicariously balanced on my backpack!

At first I thought this might be a mistake, but I think I’m wrong. Were you vicariously balancing through the camera or vice versa?

Haha, no, the camera just seemed to be teetering on the backpack and I thought it might crash to the ground at any moment! :stuck_out_tongue:

So you mean it was balancing precariously then, and not vicariously. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, lol! I guess I was also sort of visualizing myself in the back of the camera, and imagining myself looking through the viewfinder as I rode past, or posed with “Jaws”, trying to “see” the shot.

I used velcro on the original mount and the video was bouncy. I used 3m dual lock and it improved. I thought the cam came with edit software so you could remove the bouncy sections and splice the movies togetner so you could post them on their site. there are only a couple unicycle vids on the VholdR site…
