Pictures of your latest ride

Vidcaps from today’s six hours of riding in Simi Valley, CA. Lots of rocky technical and kinda Moab-like in spots. Video coming soon!

Where did you get the handlebar grips from?
I got a KH T-Bar recently and I want to protect the handles from getting scuffed.

Well, I actually replaced the original bar ends with some round ones that would fit any standard grips exactly. The grips are made by bbb. They’re super thick and robust but comfortably soft somehow. I got all the parts at a lbs in Arnhem.
By the way I also put some other kind of foam grip on the part between the bar ends to put my hand on when braking. It’s pretty comfortable that way. I also shortened the t-bar now.

Had a really fun ride on the 24 GUni , in an area of the forest heavily mined (gold) years ago, called The Tunnel.

Even a custom uni shelter! :stuck_out_tongue:

it’s been a while since i’ve posted in this thread.
and it’s always pictures from the deep south of switzerland…

these are from yesterday, wonderful day with the first leaves turning yellow-red and falling from the trees.

Wow uni san, those pictures are amazing! That looks like an ideal place to ride, I am very jealous.

Looking nice as always. I’ll have to move to Switzerland soonish. Or to Colorado. Or some other nice place with actual mountains.

Today I went for a little ride near my parents place with my cf 26er muni, which I pimped with a new tire, cranks, pedals and seat. I managed to bring the weight down to a total of 4.3kg.

It is such a different ride from my fat tired KH hard core munis. Very responsive and direct. I also tackled a couple of pretty steep and bumpy single tracks with it. It went surprisingly well for such a thin and hard tire, 127mm cranks and no brakes. Of course the tire slips more than the 3" ones I’m used to, especially in wet conditions like today.
Anyways, I’m glad I didn’t sell this one. It’s great fun.

bad quality… but they are vid captures

i don’t think i posted this one before.

another one …

On a night ride last night… this is about 20 minutes from my house on a hill that isn’t particularly big but has an excellent view from it; you can see the lights of half of the West Midlands and when it’s clear over to the Berwyns in Wales and the Long Mynd.

It’s the headless unicyclist!

It was raining cats and dogs

last Saturday…

Back to my commute again, and keeping up the recent sunset theme…

These pictures were all taken from the same place, in the middle of my route. The road peters out just before here and I follow the old railway bed (first picture) across the moor the rest of the way home. The other pictures are looking back towards the sun to get the interesting sky.

“So I was just taking the dog for a walk out on the hill, right, and this man comes past in the dark on a unicycle… and I swear… he didn’t have a head.”

Men in white coats time.

Wow, Rob. That second pic is beautiful.

Thanks Steve

I like this time of year when the sun is just going down as I’m riding home. Still light enough to see (although I need some safety lights on the road at the end now) but still with interesting light. I’m not really a fan of night riding - it’s a necessity rather than fun IMO. Oh well, couple of weeks and it’ll be pitch black.

Sorted out my shamefully wonky horizon

Me too - sunsets have been amazing the last few days, we’ve had some real mackerel skies which combined with sun in the distance are just breathtaking, it’s amazing coming down the last valley into the sunset.

Mornings have been nice too, today at 7:45, it was mist in the valleys, sun on the hills, I kept going up and getting warm, then descending at 40mph* into freezing fog - looked amazing over the fields.

I think nightriding on a commute is not so exciting (although I quite like going fast on the road bike), but proper muni nightrides are the absolute best thing.

*on a 2 wheeled bike obviously

Another awesome ride this morning at Hummingbird trail in Simi Valley. Got there 30 minutes after sunrise (7:30am) and in less than an hour, it was over 90 degrees! But still a blast as usual and met a biker at the top who was able to mount my MUni and ride for about 20 feet! He used to ride as a kid, so he still had the muscle memory apparently.

Took some cool pics of the “cave” that lies about 1/2 way down the trail, and provides much needed shade! As a change of pace, I’ll be riding MUni at Aliso Woods Sunday morning, so if anyone wants to join me, I’ll be starting about 7:30am at the bottom of Canyon Vistas, at the park entrance. Cheers!
