Took the fatty out for the first time today…it was a short ride because my tube has a leak, but it was super fun! Can’t wait until I introduce her to beach sand and/or snow. ![]()
Pretty stark terrain newob. Where is it?
Gorgeous! ! I never get tired of this thread. Keep those pics coming, guys!![]()
IS THIS THE MOJAVE DESERT??? Out near Trona?
No, it is the Alvord Desert, behind Steen’s Mountain, Oregon.

Spectacular view next to the American Flag (well..ok, not next to it, maybe 75ft in front of it : )
Yeaheah! Made it up to my brother’s place again. This time on the much lighter Knard. I do notice a lot of camber when psi was pumped up to 19, but I learned to get used to it. However its definitely less effort from less weight and much easier to freemount from very steep. Overall, really enjoyed the super nice weather, super nice hikers as I encountered today. Couple of teenagers says as I was going up a steep single track, deeply rutted dirt trail, “whoa, seriously? You ride down this trail??” Looking at me with nearly disbelief.
“Yup, I do, and lovin’ it!”

And I have for you three from last weekend’s Polish uni meetup and then four from last nights ride with Aaron, Flavio and Michal in a local forest that you may know from my photos and videos. This time it was two days after a devastating wind, so we got many surprises on the way.
Today I completed the Columbia Pedal and Paddle. Columbia has 23 outdoor neighborhood pools. Today’s event/challenge was to ride the 45 mile circuit stopping at each pool and swimming a lap. This is my first time participating in this event, and I had some doubts about whether I would successfully complete it. But I did it. I swam at all 23 pools. I finished last, but being the only unicyclist, I like to think that I completed it in style. Big thanks to my wife who escorted me on her bike for 20 of the pools.
Wow, what a nice pool event. We should have more pools for the weather in last few weeks.
Awesome for both of you (UMan and your wife) ![]()
So you were the first unicyclist across the line! Well done.
Oh that’s only about 200 miles from me! Looks like the Mojave desert near my hometown in SoCal though.
maybe all of the high deserts on the west coast look alike. ![]()
Post Canyon, Hood River, Oregon
I’ve been doing some great riding in Oregon: I’m in Hood River for 2 weeks with the Post Canyon trails almost at my doorstep. Unfortunately I’ve been riding mostly by myself and have only a few good pictures. Here are a few shots of the awesome trail I did at the end of my 5 hour ride today with something like 30km and 2000ft of climbing, almost all on singletrail and I rode almost everything up and down! Most of the other stuff is heavily wooded, so you don’t see much on a photo, but steep downs, banked turns, great stuff! Oh, for my trip I’m riding a 26" Nimbus with 150s, Magura rim brakes and Duro tire.
On one wheel again, we where measuring the power of the wind today…
Today we had allmost 17°C, which is considered to be hot here so far this summer!
Uni puts a smile on my face! (And a tread mark on my cheek haha!)
This is after almost 5 straight hours of practicing rolling wraps, unispins and “air” mounts.
The wind looks strong enough to knock you of the uni!
Heh…I used Arch for a decade, but when they forced me into systemd hell
, I discovered a better alternative: CRUX! Fastest, most stable and efficient machine I’ve ever owned. …join us…join us…heh. ![]()
