Pictures of your latest ride continued

I suppose it is a bit like riding in the grass, where the uni also sinks into the ground more and you can’t see any pits or bumps. I could focus more on that, but it is quite heavy.

Right, like that but many times over for crusty rutted snow like you had.

I’d suggest two things: Deflate your tire way way down, and forget about actually getting anywhere! Judging from your photo, I think I’ve been out in worse than that even though I’m pretty far south. And I couldn’t ride very far in it either! It was a challenge and good exercise and fun for a while just seeing what little I could do on it.

We can ride through snow all we want whenever and with lots of pleasure but ice has proven to be a big no-no! If the otherwise dry road looks all sparkly with freezing the fall will almost surely happen a couple of seconds before realizing hmm, should have stayed at home and not get hurt badly on at least one side of this fragile body.. After getting up all sore after a likewhise disaster, it occured to me that walking on this kind of surface is even more impossible than riding it! Anyways, please be very careful out there y’all and if it may help somewhat to overcome the blues: spring is only, errrm, more or less 95 days away

Now I finally have an action pic of me where I don’t just ride, but I float in the air. It is just magic.

I also had my sis make a video where I ride the trials and do some hopping and in the end managed to balance a bit longer without pogostick hops.

Trying out a new tire…

Russia, Vyksa. Hello from newbie!

That’s even more fun when you do it as frames of a movie. Back in the day, my brother had a Super 8 movie camera with an animation/single frame feature. He did a movie of me hopping and clicking the frame at the top of each hop. A flying unicycle! Some day I should get that old footage converted into something web-friendly. Then it would be my “latest ride from 1981”.

Thanks, UniMyra👍

A good start to the weekend.

McMillin ==> Buckley Trail

The last leg of a converted railroad grade from McMillin to Buckley has been completed, and the trail is GORGEOUS! It follows a meandering river, occasionally crossing it via a series of rebuilt bridges that offer some fine views. The 30-mile trip makes a perfect distance for a winter afternoon’s unicycle workout. The path has been thoughfully designed, with rest stops, trailside espresso shack, and several calendar-worthy hamlets in case you feel like exploring / lunching. If you’re in the Seattle area, give it a try.

Some snaps:

This thread is just making me insanely jealous, I’ve not been on one wheel in WEEKS

Bloody English weather!

This weekend’s the one. Unless it snows knee-deep and freezes over, I’m getting out and doing a good long ride

Here you are, be a bit more jealous :stuck_out_tongue:

Come on a bit of rain doesn’t kill you. Just wear a rain suit and hope you don’t sweat too much while riding :))
Here in Dutchyland the weather’s been ok.

I sympathize with your lack, and I understand it as I had two 6 weeks off periods closes one to each other.
The weather in France is not so good either, but I recently found the opportunity to ride 3 times (including today) on the G36 with the NR Lite tire that I love!

So a bit more to make you a bit more jealous :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not really the rain I’m worried about, it’s the half-arsed snow that leaves a layer of sheet ice across the road

Thanks everyone for your pics to get me in the mood for riding! The weekend’s weather isn’t looking good but I still reckon I’ll go for a spin round the canal paths or something, they shouldn’t be too slippy!

Snow it good. You may get more UPD’s but the landing is softer.

Jim

Snow is fun
Unfortunately not much of it recently here. But the mud was nicely frozen this morning, so I couldn’t resist taking an offroad “shortcut” on my commute.

Riding With The New Dog

This was my first spin with Skye, our Husky/Lab mix we adopted in October. She might be a natural! The 29" seemed to work really well too; she likes to run.

Here’s a photo from one of my rides this past weekend. Temps in the 70s! (But no rain, unfortunately.)
Question: I put the colored spoke covers on for a holiday parade a couple weeks back, and haven’t removed them. I’m of two opinions – I like the added visibility (less chance of being run over while road riding), but worry about adding to the dreaded “circus/clown” appearance. Any opinions? Thx!

You write in your subtext “I’m a unicyclist. I make my own reality.” Doesn’t that mean “I don’t care what other people think. I love riding a unicycle”? I think the yellow looks cool and… better safe than sorry.
