Pictures of your latest ride continued

At the very start I nearly got in the hole, but then learned to recognise when I was getting too tired, so I could hop off well before. Haven’t had a nasty tumble off the UW since. Because I only ride UW on asphalt, I won’t ever drop off because of a dip in the road, which I have several times with normal uni. Those can mess up the balance when you don’t see them. My mind is generally somewhere very different while riding.

Today was the first trip with my latest 24” municycle, that came with the Fusion Freeride saddle and handlebars and also 150mm cranks for some strange reason. The seat and handle bars, I had already swapped with the 32” and the cranks I replaced with 127mm , but they’re dual jole so can always change to 110mm. This tire is so much nicer than the QuAx 24” road uni that I had bought some years ago. The only thing I noticed when mounting was that the L/R stickers pointed the wrong way, so I had put the seat backwards. So lucky I am in the no-peel club or I would have noticed the hard way.

No-Peel-Club - the perfect place for thoughtless lads… :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Today i rode from Sölden to Huben along the Ötztal cycle trail. Perfekt challenge for me, as there is a lot of up and down. Whenever i am exhausted i can take the bus, which comes every half an hour, back to Sölden where i stay. The whole cycle path is 60 km.
There are a lot of downhill trails here and you can go uphill with a ski lift. There are many mountain bikers, but so far i did not spot another unicycle. Unfortunately
my skills are nowhere near sufficient to master these downhill routes.

Morning ride at Spokane Bluffs. Lots of smooth riding. Some with a bit of exposure.

I finished my longest ride yet - 85 miles! My wife and I rode to Rockport, MA, which is a quaint New England port town where lobster rolls comprise about 2/3 of the local economy and most of the remaining 1/3 is lobster-themed souvenirs. I rode back to Boston, she took the train, where she met another unicyclist!

I’ve been to Rockport.
Around 15 jears ago.
NY, Boston, Keneebunk, Bar Harbour…NewEngland Tour.
Loved the Coast there.

How long did you crank the cranks for that incredible 85 miles?

I remeber a guy in a bike shop at Bar Habour told me, better not to ride in the woods without bright orange cloth. Said, there where to many men hunting…
Wonder how many biker heads are naild over hunting cabin doors our there…uuuuh

You seem to master the camera as well as the unicycle, very nice pics. That one reminded me of my first muni ride:

Canada was a joke right? With the US flag on the hay bale?

@JimT those are some really stunning photos and very nice wildlife around you. Towhees dont live here, nor Bald Eagles. Not even our Sea Eagle / White-tailed Eagle looks that nice.

Yeah, that was the reason for the question. I couldn’t resist - as usual.

It was a beautiful ride up the coast. It took me 12 hours overall, 8 of which were riding. Here’s the ride on Strava: Unicycling to Rockport | Strava

That’s a great anecdote from Bar Harbor! New England rednecks are in a league of their own. Incidentally, Bar Harbor (or “Bah Hahbah” as you might here it pronounced over there) is a wonderful place to bike. The Acadia National Park has a huge network of gravel trails winding around the lakes and rolling hills

But you did it in one day or with longer pause to rest?
Even two days of 6h ridin is…ouch to think about.

I still have a shirt from the gift shop at arcadia national.
Realy liked the whole trip and people.

At Rockport (think it was Rockport) my wife asked for lobster rolls.
And the guy in the shack, huge dude, said sure, but than looked me up and down, said “but not for yankee fans”
I was wearin a hoody with a big yankee sign at the chest.

Next time i will see ta have always the right sign for the area :0)

And it was Oktober an that Helloween stuff everywhere…
:0)
Loved it…

Naja…off topic, ehya

why do you wear a full-face helmet for your 36” Have you ever hit your head that badly while riding/ UPD-ing? I only wear a normal bike helmet, one similar to your wife’s (?) in the pictures, when riding in the forest. On hardened roads, I don’t go fast enough to tumble off and break my neck.

I started wearing one after I got the Schlumpf hub. Regularly going over 20 mph really made me reconsider what I was wearing to protect myself. I haven’t had a chance to test it out yet, but I did have a bad crash at 22.5 mph last month. As I was dusting myself off, my first thought was that I was, this is the exact kinda thing that coulda resulted in serious face damage

A good proper helmet is much less expensive than medical bills. Ride hard and stay safe out there.
