Pictures of your latest ride continued

I went out and decided I was ready to try another new trail. I decided to ride the in & out trail, it’s just a big loop that comes back out about 30 yards from where it starts. it was a nice trail, still had a lot of roots to contend with but was fun.

when I got to the other end I ran across this sign, I think I better get a little more seat time in before I try to tackle this one

Morning commute. The Bay Run, Five Dock… Serene and relaxing ride to work… Contrasting the ridiculously mad frantic design office.

I made some progress tonight during “Skinny Practice”. In the photos, I placed my water bottle and unicycle at my furthest distance. Photo #1 is this past Monday, and photo #2 is tonight, Thursday. I tried to take the photos from the same spot, so the perspective is the same.

For my first ride on my new beast, I did 100km with my full load and it went by very quickly! :star_struck:

After weeks with cold and windy weather I finally had my second ride this spring yesterday. 11 km, mostly on tarmac, but also on gravel. Got 5-6 thumb ups from bicyclists. A woman said an admiring “sådan!”, which is pretty hard to translate, meaning something like “that’s the way to do it” mixed with “you can do it!”. Nice comment

Siblings. They copy one another. The have rivalries. Unicycles do that too. Oracle “Orcie” saw “Torkie” had an antagonizing photo and wanted one of its own.

Panoramic sunset.

The green mile.

The forbidden staircase.

Fullerton Loop. 1st ride with other uni riders.

Going home from work after 11 hours sitting (and standing) in front of computer screens. (CAD drafting) I was riding on the foot path for this section of road. Having a break. The blurry arc in the distance is Sydney Harbour Bridge.
15km commute from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Damn, you make me want to invest myself more in off-road unicycle rides, but I’m the only rider as far as I know in my city, and I’m not motivated enough to look for and ride trails by myself… :weary:

You just have to initiate your motivation, because once you get into it, you’ll find muni-ing extremely fun and addictive!

I have to agree with hillin, I decided to try the MTB trails at our local park and now I am addicted to riding in the trails, I see MTB bikes from time to time but mostly ride by myself, I find it exhilarating to get through the challenges at my own pace

At least I’m going out more and more. I lost the habit of riding for almost one year, but now I go out at least 4 times a week.

I did a 1-hour ride today.

Yes, that’s dog shit on my wheel… Was cleaned up riding in grass later

Are there free applications to find existing and share trails?

Every single one I tried has paid plans. I have nothing against paying, really, but I’d like to discover and try the apps to be sure it suits me.

I’ve used (https://www.mtbproject.com/) to find some local to me. Not sure about any app for it.

All trails in my area has the best mapping of local trails, even the small ones not on Google maps.

It has some premium features but just finding trails it has been a good one. Also find some local hiking or outdoors groups on your social media platform of choice, in my area it’s Facebook. The local knowledge always has the best trails

This statement sounds kind of non-specific, i’m sure due to auto-correct, but I am pretty sure by “all trails”, @Sexy means specifically https://www.alltrails.com/

That one

Had a nice ride this weekend. My wife’s family has a trailer/camper about an hour drive away from the city that they spend their weekends at. My wife and I went down for a night and it was a semi unipacking trip. I packed my food for the day and my clothes, it was a nice 17-21° C, and I had a light tail wind, the road was paved and flat and the cars were really good about giving space.

I have a 400km trip coming up at the end of July and I’ve been a bit nervous about my fitness but this ride and the previous ones I posted about made me more confident I can do it.

At the end of last season I did a 96km ride and it’s my current record on my 29" and this one came out at 93.6km. I managed to keep a 15 kmh average speed and only stopped for 1.5 hours of the 7.5 hour ride.

Also I’ve started just having knee pads on 50km+ rides as I’ve had a few bad falls. The past 2 long rides they have paid off and saved me quite a bit of pain. I tend to get sloppy with my handling when the fatigue kicks in and not having trip ending crashes is nice.

It was literally perfect conditions with not as much gear as usual but I’m still happy with the results. Next unipacking overnight I’m going to try for a 100km ride just to say I can, but for now I’m happy I’m on track for the trip.

I slept all of the next day and was exhausted with my knee joints hurting. Not sure if I had the saddle height bad or of my body is just not used to lost distance rides after winter but I was feeling quite accomplished after this

Stats for the nerds below and some lovely pictures of the ride.

First two rides with a Continental Contact Urban 29x2.2" on a newly build One4all 32h hub with a Race Face AR 30 rim using Sapim Race spokes and Sapim Polyax alu nipples.
Optimal tire for asphalt but also handles the dry gravel sections without issue.

Using a d-brake as I changed from external disc to internal but is reusing the KH frame. After a bit of modification to the IS->PM adapter everything is correctly aligned.
It looks a bit hacky but it seems solid.

On the just opened new overpass on the Willapa Hills Trail in Washington State, USA. This eliminated an at grade crossing on a busy highway.

I didn’t go through the last picture: it was very steep and uneven. Way too dangerous (for me)!
