I spoke about it 2 weeks, but now I can confirm the date:
I will be in Oslo on Friday, and I will go to Östhammar (Sweden) from saturday to the next saturday.
And I am looking for people to ride with me on friday (to make a little Oslo tour), or on Saturday morning for the beginning of my trip.
I am planning a mean speed around 18-20 kph for my trip, but of course I can slow down (at least for friday).
This Saturday we’re doing the ‘Unicycle Tour of Oslo’ for the second time. It’s an annual event now. The first 2 digit Saturday in June we’ll do it. Next year it will be 15.06.2024.
I am looking forward to it. I started to feel like I was the only uncyclist in Oslo again because I think you all do your talking primarily on facebook. I see various activities in Strava from time to time but there is little no chatter there.
I really missed you all. I was stuck on Camp Hudøy with a bunch of 7th years, making them food all weekend. I am really hoping I can find some solution next year to avoid that because I’d much prefer to cycle with the group. I saw that the facebook group has way more pictures but without a facebook account, if I look at more than about 2 I am prompted to login. Check if the others would mind you rehosting some of the best ones here.
They were “finished” in a different way, i.e. killed for disgracing us . It’s actually pretty hard keeping up the numbers of riders each yeah, when we have to murder more than half the participants.
Ok, maybe not. Usually we had a rule that you do as much of the course as you like. People stop early for various reasons. The course might be beyond them, they ride with others who cannot do the whole thing (e.g. kids) or maybe they have other commitments that day and it takes too long. Since the course is around Oslo, you do not have to walk far to grab public transport, whenever you feel you are done. Also, no matter how much you cycle you are of course welcome back next year. Honestly, we have not murdered anyone … yet!
Some people actually got lost. Every year we lose some people. People lag behind and make a wrong turn somewhere. This year we had 3 or 4 incidents. And an almost incident I managed to prevent with a keen eye and some well timed yelling.
“Finisher number 12” actually disappeared on our way back to the restaurant. We have no idea where we lost him and where he went. Did he turn back to catch a train? Did he stay in front and missed our turn or got a phone call and didn’t catch up? We might never know and never even see him again since he was from out of town.
The only thing we know is that “Finisher number 12” is still alive as he actually shared some pictures the day after. The pictures reveal no clues whatsoever to what actually happened so we are still stumped.
