I have a Cr-Mo Mad4One hub built on a 19’’ Trials wheel. I never broke a spoke, I broke one single spoke in my 7 years of unicycling, it was on my Coker. I can proudly say that I’m really hard on my parts, I pay for all my parts, even that Mad4One hub. I’m not sponsored, I like investing in what I like and I’m proud of the final result of my Trials uni, Triton frame, Mad4One CR-Mo 32 hole hub, V!Z rim, Impact seat, I love it.
After looking at the videos from Jacob, if it lasts long with him, then that means it should be a good product.
I think these new products are awesome! I can’t wait to try them out at Unicon
If Jacob only goes through 1 pair of cranks in a year, they will most likely last anyone else a lifetime especially for just muni and distance. He goes BIG.
And yes, a 6 oz weight savings is a noticeable improvement.

I am curious how Jacob wrecked his cranks. Are they twisted? Bent? Wrecked the pedal threads? Deformed crank/hub interface? Also how many sets of pins did he go through before the cranks were trashed?
I really like the idea of the replaceable pins. No need to scrap/modify cranks anymore for worn splines.

Look, I’ll be frank and try not to be too condescending:
If you are promoting a product, it is important to present the facts in a way that are not confusing to the consumer and in a way that allows the consumer to compare and contrast the product with similar products.
So far, you are telling us that your products are “the best” because of who rides them. This is a highly a subjective way to promote your product and will appear to be biased by educated consumers. A product is not made better by who uses the product, esp if that product is being promoted by users who get the product for free or at a cut rate.
Present some facts, weights, materials, show the construction/design, try not to be rediculous in your claims. To say that only young people go big and ride hard is silly and it only serves to undermine the marketability of the product.
The majority of unicycle riders are in the “older generation”, they ride more than the younger generation, and they have more money to spend on unicycle products than the younger generation, so it behooves you to keep that in mind.
Since I am not of the “younger generation”, this product is not approved for my use, therefore I must tap-out. Let me know when you have older generation approved products, ie stuff that won’t break
It’s not that the best riders use Mad4One cranks, it’s that the toughest riders abuse them and they survive, all the while being really light and looking great.
Edit: It SOUNDS like that’s what you’re into, but it seems impossible to convince you it’s true.
I think the Mad4One marketing team should revisit the approach. Marketing isn’t supposed to be confrontational. This thread isn’t making me want to be a customer.
Many people have pointed out the extensive testing the hubs have gone through. I would say that a product is certainly made better by being tested by top riders, who will quickly find any flaws. Many people asked variations of “Well yes it’s light, but does that REALLY make a difference?” which is difficult to answer objectively. All we can do, as people who have used the products, is give our personal opinions and experiences. And just to clarify, most of the mad4one team is also on team unicycle.tv, which means that we can ride ANY brand of parts for free/cut rate. We all chose mad4one.

Mike Padial did say that he hadn’t even noticed the new products when he posted that, and he isn’t affiliated with mad4one. Also, I don’t know of any unicycling product that hasn’t been broken.
Nothing in the original post was confrontational. The comments saying “Its a mistake” “What were they thinking?” “I suppose this sells things to people who don’t know better, so the youth?” were quite incendiary though.
Dude What pictures do you want? I already asked you this question on the previous page. What do you want to know about the hub? You keep asking for this information but arent providing anything more.
Also we are just backing up the company we use as riders. If someone starts talking smack about KH ill back KH up just as well as I do Mad4One.
Then with a new product you want it to survive to the most extreme conditions right? So that is why you give it to riders that are hard on parts. If it lives when they ride it then it should do just fine for normal riding.
If mad4one made a 36’’ tire they wouldnt give it to street riders to test or promote the product. They would give it a rider that rides a lot on their 36’er.
The hubs are the best for their weight category. Yes you can get a lot more reliable products but they are heavier.
If you guys or gals have any questions PLEASE ASK, thats what the test riders are for.

They are pretty cheap, a lot less than a pair of cranks. I would imagine around a dollar for all the pins.
AND LASTLY.. if you guys just keep talking crap about everyones post im out of here. I dont normally post on the forums just because of all the drama on this thread. Im only here to back up the claims made about the company that I trust and use. I would do the same for any unicycle company that i have used.
