KH 2007 Products- details & info are here

A very small clearance on the Trials/Street/Flat would rock. I think nearly all people ride with it mostly in the city and its better for flat tricks and looks better.

Word.

definitely.

I was also going to suggest a triple-hole crank as an idea. 165/140/115 (or closer - maybe 160 thru 120). Presumably the weakness issues would be the same as the twin-hole or only marginally greater?

i would marry that frame

I disagree, the KH24 '05 has enough clearance for the Gazz 3.0, which would be this biggest I would like to run (and do)? The '06- is the same height but with the brace removed… so it could be shortened a little bit. I do much of my riding in mud and the '05 is perfect för that also it’s nice how the snow get scraped off before it accumulates

More adjustability would be appreciated - ie longer seattube by perhaps 5 cm (im tall so even more would make me happy) and a little less clearance (as to not raise to “effective height” to much for shorter riders would be nice.

Lower clearance on the 20" would be great. As for the others, it doens’t really matter to me.

If I remember correctly there were side clearance issues whern you combined a Gaz, Large Marge, and Maguras.

Yeah I’m curious about that, I just got a used 24" KH frame, the one with the noodles and the gusset/brace and was wondering if I could run a gazz in it on my large marge rim. The duro 3" fits perfectly fine. I know for maguras I’d need some sort of extender.

The thing I like most about KH 19" frames is the fact that they are so well suited towards muni/muddy riding. There are no annoying ‘breathing holes’ situated anywhere on the exterior of the frame like under the seattube, so mud and crap can’t get in. Lower clearance therefore wouldn’t be too bad at all, so I’m all for it.

Most importantly though.. is the crown design. Kris, in the past emails we’ve traded, we were talking about different aluminium alloys possible for future KHs, and 7005 seemed good enough. Regarding crown design, you seemed keen to make modifications like giving it a different seattube-crown join. Has this been done for 2008 frames out of curiousity? Because from an engineering standpoint, the 2005-2007 crown-seattube join is quite weak as it is only one little circular weld holding the seattube sitting onto the crown, whereas on Domina, Nimbus, Devil, Triton, Quax frames the seattube is sandwiched between the crown… and it is widely regarded as a stronger join. Will we be seeing a Domina crown on the new KHs possibly? I would love to see it.

If 2008 KHs have lower crowns, longer necks (though this factor isn’t that important), and a new crown design (think Domina), then it would be a massive step-up from 2007 and previous years.

Your welcome.

both of you. ha

Crown Design

One of the best things about the KH unicycles is the crown design. I love how it curves in a little right at the top. Also there is no exposed tube end. this gives the insides your knees much more clearance when riding rough terrain. And even then if your knee does bang the side of the crown so what?
It is a curved post. I used to cut the insides of my knees om my Onza crown. It is shaped just like the Qu-Ax, Koxx and Nimbus crowns. I note that the weld is not round but that the seat post tube is notched at the botom so that it fits over the top of the crown. This improves strenght. Another way to improve strenth would be to cut a hole into the top of the crown and slide the seat tube post into it and then weld the seam. This way the weld is not at the end of the tube. Whatever happens, I don’t want to see the basic shape of the crown altered.

^what you described there is pretty much what the Black Domina crown is.

Like this:

But… not fook it up like Koxx did.

eh im pretty sure thats the signiture frame and not the black domina…

Uhm, the black domina has the same welding
Just black paint over it.

Peter M

but i think the signiture frame is narrower…im prolly wrong…my bad

Signature frame is a bit smaller yeah.
But the making proces is almost the same, like the welding.

Peter M

Not the Same

No what I discribed is not the same. I said cut a round hole in the “top” of the crown bar. The crown bar would still be one whole bar and not a right and a left like in the KOXX models. The botom of the seat post tube should also be curved to fit snugly onto the botom of the crown bar.

That’s what the 1999 red KH frame was like. I’ve thought about it but the challenge is that if you increase the diameter of the top tube (to allow the seatpost tube to fit through), you would need to also increase the diameter of the fork blades accordingly (so that the fork crown weld fits properly at the corners of the fork crown). Right now there is a good balance between the two, and I don’t want to change that. An alternative might be to hydroform the top tube so it is non-uniform in diameter, but that would add quite a bit of expense. It would also mean that the tube angled slightly back towards the edge which would not be quite as good an angle for keeping your foot on the frame for gliding.

Kris

but why, i dont really get what that would accomplish…

Hey Kris, could you make handles without that hole in the top? I really don’t like getting my finger stuck in it.
