Introducing Magical Mark Watson

Hi there,

My name is Mark Watson, I’m 16 years old and I’m from Boston, in Lincolnshire (England).

I’m a Christian juggler, magician, puppeteer and all-round entertainer, and I am hoping to add unicycling to my performing talents!

I have been practicing solidly now for around 2 weeks, doing about an hour a day, and I am doing pretty well! I can currently get on my unicycle using my dad’s car, and then ride off unsupported for about 30 feet (those have been my best runs, anyway). I’m quite pleased with this progress (especially considering I never learnt to ride a bike), and now that I have a week of school holidays to enjoy, I’m going to be doing some extra practice so that I can finally break into the realms of unlimited riding.

I’ve been reading this journal of a new unicycler:

and it has been a great help to me! Now that I am progressing, I decided to become a fully-fledged member of the forum and get involved with some discussions!

Any advice anyone has for a new unicyclist is very much welcome! Also, if there are any other unicyclists living in my area, please contact me!

Hope to speak to you all around the forum!

Many thanks

Magical Mark Watson

Welcome to the forums and to a fantastic obsession.

Good luck with the practice during half term.

don’t they object?

Who…the christians or the jugglers?

Either way you will be fed to the lions at some point.

Welcome Magical Mark. There are alot of jugglers. performers and magicians here.

They must be pretty light. So he probably juggles Christians babies.
He must magically summon them from their parents, probably something he learned from those Harry Potter books.

Hi there,

LOL! Already, I can tell I’m gonna like it on here!

No, to my knowledge, I don’t think there are many (if any) Christians who object to juggling. There are a few who don’t agree with magic, but I always make it perfectly clear that what I do is merely sleight-of-hand - it is a trick, nothing more, and I don’t use any evil powers to produce my results.

Nice to know you all care so much though! Actually, I’m not sure where unicycling comes into Christianity - does it say anywhere in the Bible that its wrong? Would love to know!

Many thanks

Mark Watson

Unicycling isn’t a sin. It’s what you do with it that matters. Like if it became more important to you than God or you used it for unGodly things. But to do it for a hobby and having fun? No, it’s perfectly ok. I don’t think juggling or simple “magic” is a sin, either. I think it’s all good fun.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply Divebomber! I meant it more as a joke than anything, but I’m glad that all got cleared up!

Hope to see you around the forums!

Many thanks

Hey! Welcome to the forums and good luck learning how to ride.

slightly concerened as to what “unGodly” things you can do on a unicycle!! Though theretically (as everything i’ve just read above seems passive) anything done on a unicycle is unGodly (capital G in place!!) as God never rode a unicycle (as far as i know) If he had, maybe this would be in place
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son, that whoever followeth him on a unicycle shall UPD and end up in hospital”
John 3:16b
Instead we have a message which is extremely moving when the meaning is thought about.

Level 11

Through holy matrimony, one can level 11 as much as they want (or can) indoors though, as outdoors, indecent exposure, break the law, sin!!!

Welcome to the forums!

Use you UNICYCLE for unGodly things?!

My imagination fails me.

What on earth could she be talking about?!

And welcome to the Christian juggler! Already a unicyclist.

By the way, how many Christians you can juggle?

Billy

Welcome to the forums, and congratulations on your progress. I’m glad my journal is helping you.

Not many people know that there is a reference to unicycling in the Bible in Ecclesiastes. It says, “If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!” Ecclesiastes 4:10

And Ezekiel 1 & 10:

15 As I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces.

Wow, NICE introduction! To use a Greg Harper word: “awesome”. Welcome to the forums and to the wonderful world of unicycling. As they say, that’s one more of us and one fewer of them.

Unicycling is a social activity – people will stop and talk to you all the time (assuming that you ride anywhere in public, such as a park). You’ll have many, many brief and pleasant conversations with so many people. People that you wouldn’t otherwise have had the pleasure of talking to. You’ll have to answer the same questions over and over – “how did you get into unicycling?”, “how did you learn to unicycle?”, “is that hard?”, “how do you get on?”, “how do you stop?”, etc. I never mind answering those same old questions. With your great personality, you are going to spread unicycling goodwill and happiness to all the people you meet. And I bet you will inspire more than a few to lean to ride.

Congratulations on your excellent progress. And on skipping the “training wheel” (bike). You’ll be riding all over the place in no time. And don’t be shy… post a lot.

P.S. - It will be very entertaining for the people that you meet when you tell them you never learned to ride a bike! Stay off those two-wheeled contraptions! Just so you can say to everyone that you don’t know how.

Hi there,

Thanks for all the kind welcomes everyone! Means a lot to have people welcoming you onto a new forum like this!

Now that I understand where a few of you have misunderstood my introduction, let me clarify. I am a Christian who performs juggling, magic, puppetry and all-round entertainment. Sometimes I do it in Church as part of ministry, other times I do it to earn a little extra money. I haven’t yet juggled a Christian, however there is a method in one of my books about how you can juggle a baby. If I ever try it, I’ll put a video up for you all to see!

In the meantime, you can have a look at this old juggling video

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OOb5Yq-mQsw

and at about 06:06 you will see him juggling a baby (although the camera trickery of switching the baby for a fake is fairly obvious).

Hope this clears things up, and once again thank you for being so friendly and inviting!

Many thanks

Mark Watson

BTW, just thought I’d tag on the end here that I just did a 200 ft run down my road!

Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far on my unicycling journey!

Many thanks

Mark Watson
