I have 40mm cranks on my Coker

Hey, I said God Speed. I dunno what it means, but it sounds good…

Dubmuni, you posted a second too late.

I don’t think it will feel wobbly at all, except when you’re about to crash. My experience with shorter cranks on the Coker (the shortest I’ve used is 102mm) is that it reduces the side to side wobble when you are spinning very fast. Trouble is, it smoothens it so much that you end up spinning very fast before you realise you want to stop.

Excellent idea, I’d buy your movie for that alone!

Good luck! If possible, can you get footage from different angles so we can really appreciate what it feels like…directly behind, etc, etc.?

I’m sure you’ll do fine, after all you do muni on a 36" UW!

Andrew

i am building a 36" bc wheel…maybe one of u can try it out???

i am also building a 2 1/2" uni:D just for fun…
it wont have a chain it will have a belt drive:D

That boils down to 1984 rpm. I have a spreadsheet (made earlier) that conveniently calculates this. I doubt you can spin that fast. However, 10% of that is almost 200 rpm, and doable by some, although on a 36’er you’d need a lot of power. Then you would reach 42.5 mph. Go Brian!

I see you have a computer on your setup (to tell us the speed), and a brake for safety. All good.

Roger has ridden 50 mm cranks on a Coker, that’s the shortest for a 36" wheel I know of.

I attach your picture, lightened up. There are indeed cranks on it.

Klaas Bil

The lever is broken off the brake

The Computer wire is ripped (you’ll notice there is no magnet ‘reader’ on the fork legs)

sigh

Off to bed, t minus 10 hours to inaugural flight

42.5mph… Is that Mach-I or Mach-II “coker speed”?

Is there a calculation to determine the increased amount of force required to pedal with such a short crank?

I’d try it on level terrain -or better yet, a pair of rollers.

Good luck.

This is the funniest line I’ve read on this forum.

Chuck Yeager called his plane “Glamorous Glennis” when he entered the record books by being first human to break sound barrier in an aircraft.

Does yours have a name? One that will live in on, at least in our hearts, is …Brian MacKenzie the courageous.

Should you contact Guiness Book of World Records? What is the fastest sustained speed on a Unicycle? I know how I could rapidly achieve 120 mph (average terminal velocity for skydivers) but…only once. Seriously, you should check out Guiness.

This has been the most entertaining and educational post I’ve seen on this forum. My only question is how long till the video??

Success!

It took me 12 attempts to mount and ride off.

It takes forever to get going, and it will take a few sessions before I attempt to see how (comfortably) fast I can get it going

It does feel like a BC wheel! (not wobbly) No matter how much I got going, as soon as I would start to tip ever so slightly back, I could not correct it.

I was by myself with only a tripod, my future attempts will require another rider to take the camera to really appreciate how crazy this setup really is!

You can see in
this clip how tough it will be to get really good at it! (.9mb)

It does look a lot like a BC. Just the way you move and hold your arms. If i didn’t see your legs moving I would have definitely thought it to be one. Keep it up.

David

Great job Brian!

That’s pretty subtle pedaling movement. I can see how your balance adjustment is very limited. Do you think the balance adjustments will be easier at a faster speed?

Now, about the hill climbing…

Bill

i really can’t tell if it will be easier at faster speeds. my biggest downfall here was not having my 5mm allen key to readjust the seat, it should have raised up an inch or two now that my knees don’t really bend.

I’ll see if I can hop up a curb or something neater than just riding it next time

i have a clip of the mount as well, I will post it up (because it’s pretty bizarre looking)

i’ll put it up later today

Wow that is awesome! I got to try that. Good thing I have friends the weld. I dont know when I’ll get around to it though or if my friend will.

I cant wait to see more.

I hate to say it but…

Man, what an ugly looking thing :stuck_out_tongue:

Awesome clip! Well done.

well done. it doesnt look like much fun though.

Geez, lighten up! Looks like a fun challenge to me.

its remarkable..i swear that a bicyclist once said those exact words to me as he saw me riding my kh24 around the block!! haha what irony

Geez, Calm down.

tennisgh22

yeah, he was right. watching a unicycle go around the block is pretty dull.
