Hydraulic giraffe unicycle?

I thought I knew a thing or 2 about unicycles but never heard of this.
How can a giraffe change height on the ride without some sort of chain length adjuster?
I did search, found nothing.
Anyone know anything please?

Well, the distance from pedals to seat would need to stay the same. This means there can be a mechanism with another gear outside the chain with a large chain, and as the pedals along with the seat move, the small gear would move closer inward making the chain longer, making it possible to change the height. You would need a lever that connects to the frame hydraulically to make it move up and down. If you want it tandem, add two sets of saddles and pedals connecting to different gears that are connected to a third gear with a chain that attaches to the wheel. Not sure why you would really want this though, and it would likely be close to impossible to ride. I hope I answered your question.

Wikipedia cites this link as a reference, it doesn’t say much but may give you some more information. I’m sure John Foss might know more though. I assume it is some multi chain scissor type thing.

Instead of a chain I would try it with a cross-shaped axis and a sliding gear on it.

Tommie miller made a giraffe like this like a scissor lift and multiple chains

Yes tommmi made one for Sem Abrahams. It was like a scissor lift with multiple chains. Super cool but super heavy. He could ride it as a 6 foot and then use a hand pump under the seat to pump it up to a 8 or 9 foot unicycle. Then he would release the pressure and it would go back to a 6 foot. Wish I had a photo. I bet @johnfoss does.

With your input I found this video (click popups away, no account needed):

Thank you so much for finding and posting this!
I could not zoom with enough pixels to fully get chain routing but think get concept.
Again merci, talk about niche uni!
