How many people Muni??

I was just wondering how many people out there are into Muni. It must be less than I thought originally because at the IJA fest I got asked quite frequently wow that tire is huge I’ve never seen anything like that… what made you think of doing something like that on a uni. (I didnt tell em you guys)

Does anyone know what kind of number the world Muni population is??

We can start a tally at 1 for me… but I still suck so maybe that should only be .5 :stuck_out_tongue:

I have Muni’d… but that’s on an old-fashioned cottered 20-inch. And not too often. Once I get a Muni-style unicycle I’m sure I’ll be a regular. I just want to try to keep my freestyler in freestyle condition (which is not great as it is).

Re: How many people Muni??

I muni. put my tally on there, what’s that now? two?

I think there are quite a few unicyclists into muni who aren’t so into
juggling and stuff to spend vast amounts of money on it. Personally I muni
loads and I can juggle a bit, but I wouldn’t really call myself a juggler.
You’d have to be pretty into the juggling thing to want to spend loads of
money going to IJA festivals.

There are also now people getting into muni from the mountain bike scene as
opposed to from the juggling / unicycling thing, I’ve met a few people who
have unicycles and are learning, but mainly mountain bike and don’t juggle
or anything.

Joe

I Muni most weekends and i ride my Muni to school and back during the week so you can put me down.

Luke

we’ve entered a grey area that will only be cleared up by a definition of muni
i ride a stock-standard 20" taiwanese uni
occasionally we’ll go into a variety of areas i can only loosely describe as ‘off-road’
trying to negotiate rocks, logs and dry(-ing) riverbeds
does this qualify as muni?
should i have a ‘recognised’ muni to qualify as a muni’er?

i’m having fun
does this qualify as muni (ref “purpose of muni” thread)?

Yeah, me too- another MTBker turned MUnier.

Surely a good way to get a rough guesstimate of the number of MUnicyclists (or at least of the trend of growth in MUnicycling) would be from the number of MUni’s sold through Unicycle.com/yr. John?

Okay then, you can’t type properly and you’ve got a silly nickname.

Oh, put you down on the list. Sorry, bit of a misundertanding there;)

Have fun!

Me and my friends come from juggling.
(3 “yes” in the pile: from juggling to uni)

We’ve started muni-ing last summer, so add 3 people in comMUNIty!

Maybe a poll would be a better way of doing this… “what you use your uni most for” or something, out of (off the top of my head) MUni, juggling, trials, hockey, commuting, generally-riding-round-and-impressing-people…

Phil, just me

I need another option:
Generally-falling-off-and-looking-like-an-idiot.

Re: How many people Muni??

More people muni every day. Most hardcore mountain bikers around here are no
longer surprised to see a unicycle on the trails. Often they mention Kris Holm
or George Peck.

We’ve got 20 solid muni riders who practice every week at North Bend Elementary
School. They range from 8 to 16 years old. They’ve all mastered the hills on
the BMX track, so we keep having to find tougher trails.

I also muni. Came over to the dark side from mountain biking too. I saw the unicycle.com ad in the back of Dirt Rag magazine, where Kris is descending a big rock. I knew that I had to do that. The rest is history. Joe

How many people Muni??

Well, I don’t really like hills, ya see. The city of Kyoto is nice for unicycling because it’s flat, mostly. So, I don’t Muni.

Why am I here, then? I guess after reading all of you Muniers’ posts, I’m intrigued… I may be heading for conversion, an epiphany, a new leaf… Hmmmmm, brushburns, broken bones, grass stains and Lyme disease? Honestly, I’m considering it! Do women think it’s cool? Do women ever see you do it? Will it make me into a sexual tyrannosaurus? Do women want a sexual tyrannosaurus?

I think the thing it shows is - You were at a juggling convnetion. Lots
of the jugglers who bring a unicycle to a convention just have a uni, so
they can juggle on it. Muni riders are often NOT jugglers, even the ones
who can juggle. I have to say as well, you were at the IJA fest, which is
populated by rich american jugglers. The BJC and EJC may see more muni
action, more unicyclists are involved in running those fests.

For real unicycle stuff, you NEED to vist a unicycle convention, much
more fun than a jugglers one:-)

I’ve been off-road riding since last fall (I mean autumn, not some
sort of UPD).
Recently I’ve become more serious about it and my UDC Max Traction is
on order (and will stay in that ethereal state until end August - you
know, holidays in between).
I need to improve a lot but I consider myself “into MUni”.
