For your assistance, I’ll copy total list for you here:
GENERAL INFORMATION

In order to be eligible to achieve a level, a rider must have achieved all previous levels. All skills start and end with the rider riding forward, seated with both feet on the pedals. All mounts end with the rider riding forward with both feet on the pedals.

PROCEDURE FOR TESTING

To achieve a skill level a rider must pass a skill level exam with an authorized examiner. Examiners must be authorized by the Unicycling Society of America, the IUF, or by a connected organization. In order to pass an exam a rider must perform all skills in the level at the first attempt except for 3 skills maximum which must be performed at the second attempt.

Interesting question.

I know I’m level one and with minimal practice could do level 2.

The 180 turns for level 3 would take some work though. I haven’t tried riding over a 10 X 10 obstacle.

Where’e Brian Mackenzie? I bet he could get up a few more levels. He did a great job on his coker in the woods. He really opened my thinking on how a coker can be used.

Bill

I’m pretty sure I could complete thru level 4 with minimal practice. At level 5 things start to get sticky. The seat on side riding could be very unhealthy for a standard Coker wheel. The one-foot figure 8 could be tough if you want it to fit the “nominal” Standard Skill dimensions (easier on a nice smooth floor).

The next problem area for me looks like it might be in level7, the 180 degree hop-twists. Uggh! I don’t think mounts would be a problem. Mounts tend to be easier than riding tricks.

But my Coker has a big handlebar setup on it, making several of those moves extra difficult, so I won’t be experimenting…

You mean you can hop standing on the wheel on a coker? That sounds totally insane!

I think they would because of the new rule which I don’t know exactly but I think past level 5 you have to do all the mounts to a level 5 or higher trick, which I’m guessing would be difficult on a big wheel???

Actually, the rule is that on level seven and higher all the mounts have to be into skills besides riding.

idle with the left foot down is keeping me out of level 5

COKER

im a solid level 4, with about half of level 5 done. ive almost completed a uni spin on the coker. ive glid a half revolution, i can ww, one foot ww, ride up some big logs (Brian Mackenzie!!!) 180 pivot (backspin) and somewhere around a 2-3 foot drop. im pretty sure i can spin on it, but im not sure my circle is small enough. also, ive crank grabbed(not to rubber) on something 10 inches higher than the crank, and ridden down a 7 stair set.
P.S. learned how to 36" ultimate wheel in one hour.

Have these new rules been posted anywhere yet? I assume these are the rules being reworked by USA.

Can anyone in the know confirm such a new rule, the above one or jsm’s
variant? All I know is “All skills start and end with the rider riding
forward, seated with both feet on the pedals.”

(Possibly posted twice because of hiccup in my program.)

Re: Re: Highest Skills Level Reached Totally on Coker??

Yes, such a rule does exist under the usa skill level testing standards. It is explained and elaborated at
http://www.unicycling.org/usa/levels/ section 10.5.1:

“For Level 7 and above, riders must mount to a skill other than riding or a standard idle. An exception may be made if the mount is difficult (example: 360 spin side jump mount). While the ending skill may be repeated, the mounts all have to be different. Examples: Jump mount to one-foot idle, kick up mount to wheel walk, or rolling mount to one-foot leg extended.”

Re: Re: Re: Highest Skills Level Reached Totally on Coker??

Who decides if a mount is difficult?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Highest Skills Level Reached Totally on Coker??

An official level tester.

Of course that is the USA rules that’s quoted. The IUF rules are not the same in that regard, though they are the same skills. The German rules are also different, but also have the same skills. The Japanese levels are a completely different set of skills.

I’m interested to see these Japanese skill levels. Are they available in English anywhere?

i’m a mount away from level 3 :), no good @ those, and, what’s a coker?, and when it says a sharp turn… i get get it within a meter, and could probly eventually get 180 twist on the spot, but a 360 twist on the spot might prove to be quite difficult… what is the space allowed to do such a turn?

A Coker is a unicycle with a 36" wheel
