This is probably a long shot, but has anyone here ridden the CDT, either the entirety or sections? I see that these two have: http://divideby1.blogspot.com/
I haven’t actually looked into it much yet, but I plan on doing some long ride within the next couple years. When I was hiking the AT, I met some people who have hiked and biked parts of the CDT. I hear it takes a decent amount of planning and map work as it isn’t well blazed.
So if anyone has, what were your thoughts and do you have any advice or suggestions?
I would highly recommend the adventure cycling association map set. (https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/adventure-cycling-route-network/interactive-network-map/) They are well worth the money. I used it for my trans-america (b*ke) trip and they are excellent. Many have phone numbers not associated with a business that will put you up for the night. Knowing what’s coming up in the next 10,30,and 45 miles is pretty useful. They keep them very up to date as well.
I would love to come but doubt I’d have the time.
Check out crazyguyonabike.com, you can sort the blogs by area, and because one of the routes ACA has is the continental divide, I believe you can sort specifically for that route. : ) Don’t spoil too much though.
Last August I rode the Colorado Trail which is part of the CDT. If you search the forums you should be able to find my thread on it. Or you can read my blog about it at www.uniproshow.com Feel free to ask me any questions you have.
