Does anyone have a Flick Flock hub, wheel, or uni you would be willing to sell to me? I know freewheeling is hard, but I would very much like to try it.
The Pipifax apparently breaks a lot from riding on anything other than flat ground. I’ve never heard of the Nimbus Drift Trike. Where do you buy that?
The Nimbus hubs with a rotor mount are difficult to source as far as I know. High Roller Drift Trikes sell a freewheeling hub that’s pretty similar, if not identical, to the Nimbus freewheeling hubs. They don’t have a brake rotor mount though so you might have to figure out a solution using a rim brake. They’re not as tough as the Flick-Flock either, but still significantly cheaper
The problem with that hub however is that the bearing pitch is 67mm. I suppose I could weld my own 67mm pitch frame using the Nimbus kit… wouldn’t be able to do that for a while. I’ll keep this in mind.
Thank you
Actually nevermind I was reading the wrong thing, the flange is 67mm, bearing to bearing is 100mm. I’m now seriously considering this.
I’ll add I did build a freewheeling wheel a while back, though admittedly I’ve only managed to sit on the uni (just barely) and then hung the wheel up somewhere. I’ll probably re-lace the wheel at some point into a smaller wheel + a rim brake compatible frame since there’s no way I’m going to try freewheeling without a brake ![]()
What’s the wheel size you have? I was thinking of putting this hub on my 26.
They also sell a 26" wheelset. Considering this as well
I laced it into a 650B (27.5") rim, though I forgot exactly why I chose to do so ![]()
This might be worth a try as a plug-n-play solution. If you can figure out a way to mount a rim brake that would get you perhaps a starter freewheel uni
I’m leaning more toward the wheelset. I believe that my Nimbus 26" Muni has a 36h rim, so I would need to get a frame, spokes, and a rim.
Hey! I have a Flick Flock hub I’d like to part with. I’ve spoked with someone a few months ago and they may be interested in buying it during Unicon, but no news since then. I’ll check with them again and let you know whether it is available!
Ok! What do you want to sell it for?
I’m not really sure. I bought it for approx. 1,200€, and have used it for a bit of time (around 1 year) before switching to a Qaxle Pipifax. What do you think would be a fair price?
Note that I haven’t had any news from the other person for the past 3 days, so this hub may be yours ![]()
Is $500 reasonable, or too low? Also, I might be able to pick it up at Unicon
@Maxence, why did you switch to the pipifax? Just curious, and thinking about getting into freewheel myself
I’m curious as well. Doesn’t the Pipifax break from drops?
If you make it €500, it’s yours ![]()
Here’s the topic when I had tried to sold it, 3 years ago: Mad4One Flik Flok hub. I did not try to sell it hard, thus the reason why I still have it here ![]()
The reason why I have switched to a Pipifax hub is because I really liked the instant engagement. I found it really amazing for my riding style - i.e., trying to coast as much as I can. Also, for uni-packing, the Pipifax is really amazing - if you don’t break it, that is. So, you absolutely don’t want to do drops on it. I broke my first one when riding a bit of trials in the middle of the mountain. My second Pipifax broke when riding uphill my 36er on a ~10% gravel path ![]()
Also, I really like having a hub which does not do any sound: enjoying the nature without “ant CLIK CLIK CLIK”.
That sounds good. Does it still make that noise you described?
It hasn’t been laced since 2023, so I would say that it still does the sound but I haven’t checked.
