One of my favorite movies is “The Shawshank Redemption” (this was on a few days ago).

&
" Blackhawk Down"
Must see movies using the search function, advanced search, titles only, Just Conversation only, keyword=movies. Total time involved, 23 seconds including writing this post.
the fact that you followed “the matrix” with “(any of them)” completly invalidates your post. The second two movies in that fake ass trilogy totally ruined the first. Man, I was so pissed when I saw “reloaded” and again with “revolutions”.
The last two are great, if you don’t expect them to be an action movie.
Edit: Harper, Favourite movies are not the same as Must See movies. Just because I like the Matrix Trilogy as a whole, doesn’t mean I would reccomend them all as “Must See” movies. As we can see, they don’t have the mass appeal to be “must-see movies” - in this case, the search function turned up a similar, but still different thread. Blah blah ramble ramble, Favourite =/= Must See. This is just conversation, after all!
My apologies. I will discontinue my use of the annoying search function to locate links to appropriate material in the future. Why should I be posting things like this in Just Conversation? That was research, not conversation. What was I thinking giving a link to twelve pages of posts concerning what forum members thought were “must see” movies? I apparently failed to realize that “must see” must mean “watch or die” and could not possibly mean favorite or even good.
I totally agree with you Nick…
reloaded and revolution are just 2 pieces of… …whatever. They aren’t worth the DVD rental cost.
But yes, “the matrix” (and only this one) is a good movie, and like we french say “tastes and colours should not be discussed” (approximative translation:( )
I vote for Matrix too (not 2!)
Also Pink Floyd the Wall (which is not only a movie but is Life). I wonder if it was influential in my choice of career?
Unlike many of you, I like all three movies. Certainly the first one stands on its own, perhaps better than the trilogy story, and clearly better as a cohesive movie. But as sequels go, the 2nd and 3rd were about a hundred times better than most. Also, I think a lot of people “got lost” in the philosophical parts of the story, and did not necessarily understand all of the concepts. It took me several times watching it all to understand some of what was meant.
Michael Caine, or the more recent one? Both were lots of fun. But only the original made proper use of proper Minis. The idea was that the cars are tiny so they can go where most others cant.
I’ll toss in a movie that’s not very deep, but is very funny and so full of content that you have to watch it at least three times to see everything:
The Fifth Element.
from “The Shining”. Jack Torrence (Nicholson) says to his wife: “Gimmie the bat-- Gimmie the bat…Wendy, I’m not gonna hurt ya, I’m just gonna BASH your head in…NOW GIMME THE FUCKIN’ BAT!”
