Favorite best saddle

Jim,
yes, of course, I use a handlebar.
I have a bar,
I have a handle,
ups, I have a handlebar.
It’s very halpful for mount and dismount, for transortation unicycle in walking area, to carry in bogh hands on good roads and to pull up unicycle before obsticals.
There is not so much difference between uni and bicycles. I suppose, everyone had experience to ride on bicycle without holdind a bar and didn’t any discomfort, meanwhile from saddle direction. I rode more tousand kilometers already.
If you will take enough long and enough thin saddle, spend some time for adjusting angel and high, I’m sure you will get good result. My favorit saddle is Selle Italia. I coated it by leather now.

Thank you very much for your Great comment. That help me a lot.

What do you guys are thinking of the „Nimbus Air cover“? Ist is better to invest the Money in the expensive saddle or the cheaper Choice of the Cover?

Based on my experience the price of the saddle is not directly related to the comfort of the saddle. I’ve tied several saddles but the best I’ve found is actually the cheapest. I ride a UDC Club saddle and have found it comfortable on rides of up to a 100 mile day. I don’t use padded shorts or any other makeshift tricks, just jump on and ride with a break every so often.

wow, that is interesting! Good to know. Thanks for your answer.

I’ve tried all sorts of saddles over the years and my favourite by far is the KH Fusion One which I have on my 36er.

And I didn’t like the Club standard saddle, but maybe I didn’t give it much of a chance. I felt it was really hard.
Anyway, goes to show, saddles are very much a personal taste item.

I used to ride a Club saddle and absolutely hated it. I could last about 5 miles before it got annoyingly uncomfortable but somehow I managed to do a number of ~20mile rides on it. After modifying it with extra foam and flattening it out I could go 12 miles before it got to the annoyingly painful point but I would also continue to 20ish after that since I would need to get home. I now use a Nimbus Stadium and it feels entirely different, I like it a lot more than the standard Club but it gets me to about the same 12 miles as the modified Club before becoming annoyingly uncomfortable. I think it’s overall better than the modified Club in feel but I get similar results from it if that makes any sense.

I like the QX Eleven Saddle and the ONE4All Classic Saddle. Both are good Universal Saddles. the QX saddle has the advantage that it has screws for fastening, the ONE4ALL not, this is an advantage if you also want to use handlebars or seat posts with thick plates

Hands down the mad4one handlesaddle. It’s comfy, customizable, low profile, stiff, and clean.
Comfort: theyve done a good job with their foam choice and layering. Essentially the have hollowed out centers and sitbones so it cradles your form.
Customizing: you can take the whole thing apart and order parts. the leather version is really luxurious, and the gaffer tape version is ultra ghetto, but I love the fact that I can replace the cover or adjust the foam non destructively.
Low profile: both the saddle and handle are low profile. Compared to regular banana seats or even kh fusion one, the handlesaddle lack the front budge. So it’s a lot stubbier with less material. Because the bar and seat are integrated, you don’t have all the extra metal, weight, and fail points that a KH t bar or quax bar would add. That translates to a really stiff and clean setup.

The handle saddle is my personal favorite too, however I’ve got to fault it a little. You have to shim up the front bolts if you want a bit of an up angle to it and the leather wrap across the front is prone to damage from upd’s. It does alright in a purely off road environment and pretty well on a road riding machine, but on a unicycle that you are practicing skills with on pavement the leather wrap gets chewed up pretty quickly.

I do have my other saddles turned up a bit more, but the foam arrangement/firmness of the handlesaddle does allow a flatter angle for my bum. So I’m okay with it now. Do you think shimming it would compromise the structure, since there’s less contact area?

It’s worked so far for me. I’ve just added a few washers in between the saddle and the seat post.

I still don’t get it. Doesn’t it hat the standard Interface that every unicycle saddle (except Fusion zero and Fusion one) comes with? So you can’t blame the saddle for not having bought an adjustable seatpost. Or does the handle saddle for some reason not fit the KH adjustable seatpost?

Well I think what @Duff is referring to is that the standard M4O setup does not really allow for a nose-up position. Here is a picture of by M4O Handle Saddle (M) attached to the by M4O recommended XXL seatpost (25.4mm with a shim to 27.2mm to fit it into a KH frame). And here it’s positioned with the nose as far up as possible. It’s really just flat as I see it.

Compare this to the Fusion One in the position recommended by KH for Muni. With a M4O Ursli bar.

Btw. I really like both saddle setups. The M4O Handle Saddle is stiffer (at least without a reinforcement plate on the Fusion One) and enjoy it for Muni.
btw. I also own KH Freeride, QX Eleven, UDC Club, Qu-Ax trainer but I prefer the flat saddles.

For reference the underside of the M4O.

Btw. do @MAD4ONE have any comments about this. I think it’s a little odd that the XXL/Handle Saddle does not allow for a more nose-up position?

Okay. The Fusion One / Zero saddles use this tiltable interface that comes from bmx.

But is there any difference between M41 handle saddle on M41 xxl seatpost and any other seat (linke KH Freeride, QX Eleven) on a standard 4-hole-seatpost?

Is there anything on the handle saddle that prevents from mounting it to the KH adjustable seatpost?

No I don’t see any issues. I think the M4O Handle Saddle will mount just fine to the KH adjustable seatpost. I’ll try to get hold of one next time I order some spare parts and try it out. It seems like a good suggestion and solution.

You can use any seat post. The KH is probably a good choice as the range of seat angle is much wider.
If you look at the photos of the M41 seat post, you’ll notice that it’s offset and you can flip it 180° to gain more angle. I think they did this to keep it strong by having more material, yet still giving a fair amount of adjustment. It’s clever.
I had a Fusion Zero for a while and was frustrated that my ideal angle would have been exactly between 2 notches. I wish @danger_uni Kris (or any other bike manufacturer really) offered an offset seat post, which would give you more precise angle adjustment by flipping the seat post 180°

Wait, are you saying that you can turn the m41 seatpost backwards for a more upturn position?

Yes, the end marked Up is a bit higher than the end marked Dn.
