Ed's unicycle around the world tour

He doesn’t sound American:slight_smile: Actually my impression of his accent is that he sounds like one of the royals.

American Ninja Warrior is a TV show, so to be a “regular” entry involves an audition process. This might take months, starting with sending in videos. You can also do a “stand-by” audition by showing up at one of the entry competitions and seeing if they will let you compete. It would be really cool if he could get on. That’s a great show.

Now I am confused. So, who holds the record for longest unicycle ride? Also on the distance-topic…do I hold the record for the oldest guy, at 64, to ride 100 miles in a day on a unicycle?

Episode 4

Episode 4 of Ed’s videodocumentation:

Hello

Hi everyone,

I just came across this thread. Wow, thank you for all the interest. Just wanted to say that my latest video is also up on youtube: https://youtu.be/mUFmLRfKeYM

I’m currently in Istanbul waiting for visas so will probably be stationary for the next week which is a little annoying. But it does give me the time to do some more editing which is handy because I’m over a month and a half behind with the footage!

It was mentioned before on here, but I’ll just mention again that with my ride I am supporting the School in a Bag charity and am aiming to raise enough to send 500 SchoolBags to 500 disadvantaged children all over the world. Please check out the charity’s website here: http://www.schoolinabag.org and if you like what they’re about you can donate through my page here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/WorldUnicycleTour

‘School in a Bag’, have been behind me completely so any love you can send their way would be greatly appreciated. They have a Facebook page too which is well worth a like: https://www.facebook.com/schoolinabag

And I’d be happy to answer any questions you have for me

Cheers, Ed

Is anybody else following Ed? He’s in Kazakhstan, between Russia and China. He just started riding again the other day after wintering over in Kyrgyzstan.

Yeah, I’m following him and have been waiting for him to start riding again.

Back to riding a single wheel? Or still on his tandem tour

Ed is back on one wheel. And he is currently a bit in a hurry. About 1,000 miles left in Kazakhstan and only some 24 days left on his visa.

And he just got what could be quite a problem. Today he posted a picture of his hub on Facebook. The flange broke, disconnecting two spokes completely. He is asking for advise on what to do (he is probably in the middle of nowhere with no bicycle store anywhere nearby). Leave him a comment here https://www.facebook.com/MrEdPratt if you have some good ideas on how to fix the problem.

Even if tig patched that hub is going to fail again. It will take the same amount of time for him to get a new hub as an entire wheel. But if he gets just a hub then there’s the big problem of rebuilding the wheel. So a new wheel is probably the best option in his situation.

Catching up with Ed

I’ve been watching Ed’s excellent videos on his journey through Australia. He’s now in New Zealand. Looks like he’ll be in San Francisco in January. Is anyone thinking of riding with him when he’s here in the US? Sure seems like it would be fun to catch up with him for a day or two.

Much respect.

I have enjoyed the videos of his Epic journey that I have seen. I hope to some day be good and fit enough to travel a bit on a Uni.

Yesterday I was able to ride a leg of Ed’s journey while he came to the Dallas area. Super cool dude. We went 57 miles from Plano, Tx to Elmo, Tx. I feel very lucky to have had that experience.

Dude is a beast. His uni weighs 80 lbs geared up. All I had was about 3 liters of water and my nightfox and barely made it. Mad respect for the guy.

Can’t wait for him to come back to the UK, if he’s riding from Scotland southwards I might get a chance to do a leg with him!

Also keen to join him on a UK leg.

From Ed’s Facebook:
“I’m 2 days off NEW YORK! And the completion of my forth continent! Spontaneous host wanted in New York City from the 3rd July - 8th. If you can help me out (or know someone who can) in the Big Apple, please don’t hesitate to message me. Cheers”

attachment for luggage

Hi,
I´m planning to go on a unicycle trip this summer. That´s why I want to built such an attachment for my luggage like Ed. Is there anybody who´s already built such an attachment or knows how to do it?
I´m really looking forward to your answers!
Maximilian:)

You may want to check out Cary Gray, that is where Ed got help with his pack.

Congratulations Ed!

What a guy. He’s so cool and calm about it! “Let me enjoy this one for now eh”
